Resting in the Southeast direction of Pemayangste Monastery, Rabdentse Ruins are a major place of interest in Sikkim. Rabdentse, in the previous times, was the second capital of the former kingdom of Sikkim. At present, the entire complex is in a ruined state but it has not lost the charm of attracting visitors on a large scale. It is now managed by Archaeological Survey of India as it has been declared as a monument of national interest.
It Is Known For:-
1) Rebdentse is known for Taphap Chorten. It was the place that marked the entrance to the palace. All those who entered the palace had to dismount from horses and remove their headgear as a gesture to respect the kings
2) The standing stones called Namphogang also catch the attention of visitors. It was the royal court of justice where the judges pronounced their sentences to criminals
3) Dab Lhagang is the present-day ruined shrine that was used for offering prayers to deities.
