Tara Mandir aka Nehru Planetarium is a famous tourist attraction and a well-known landmark in the city of Porbandar, Gujarat. This planetarium was established in the year 1977 and is dedicated to the Non-Cooperation Movement that was led by Mahatma Gandhi. This planetarium was incepted by the donations made by a renowned Gujarati philanthropist, Nanji Bhai Mehta. The prime aim of Tara Mandir is to empower the young minds by providing them with the knowledge of the aeronautical science and celestial bodies.
Why Is It Famous?
Tara Mandir is known for its 2 different significances. Number 1- it has a gallery that is full of the photographs of the pre-independence era. In this gallery, the visitors can witness the anti-British news articles, shout out for the non-cooperation movement, and other images related to the movement.
It has an overhead round screen where the different visuals of the celestial bodies, galaxies, planets, and other information about the solar system are projected. Numerous guests gather here on different occasions to enhance their knowledge about the solar system.
