Depicting the skillful architecture practiced during the reign of the Mauryan Dynasty, Allahabad Pillar is a remarkable tourist attraction in the city. It was built in the 3rd century and has different inscriptions engraved over it. This pillar is one of the marvels that carry the edicts of Ashoka, including the teaching of dharma. At present, this pillar stands in the premises of Akbar's Fort in Allahabad which is occupied by the Indian Army. The public requires a special permission from the army authorities for viewing the pillar.

1) Allahabad Pillar is crafted out of the single piece of the sandstone and stands at a height of 35 feet. It was destroyed and reconstructed many times due to the different causes
