Udanti Wildlife Sanctuary is a famous wildlife sanctuary in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. This sanctuary derives its name from the river Udanti that flows nearby. Established in the year 1984, this sanctuary covers a gross area of 232 sq. km. Its jagged terrains are covered with lush green vegetation and the sanctuary is surrounded by trees. It is visited by the tourists on a huge scale.
It Is Known For:-
1) Udanti Sanctuary was established in Raipur under the wildlife protection act of 1972.
2) It is the only sanctuary in India that has the main motive of preserving the wild buffalo.
3) This sanctuary is a home to the different mammalian species of the wild buffalo, tiger, leopard, panther, stag, deer, nilgai, blackbuck, hyena, monkey, bison, and reptiles like cobra and python.
4) The avifauna spotted in Udanti Sanctuary includes the heron, parrot, bulbul, peafowl, and Brahminy kite etc.
