Hingolgadh Nature Education Sanctuary is located at Jasdan taluka in the district of Rajkot. The sanctuary covers a small area of around 654.07ha but still it is enriched with varied type of vegetation.
The place is quite rugged and hilly and offers magnificent view of the landscape. Earlier, it was a hunting place of the local kings but in the year 1980 it was developed into a sanctuary so as to safeguard it vegetation cover along with wildlife.
Flora:- The sanctuary is rich in dry deciduous type of forests and comprises of various species of trees and plants. Some of the common trees found here are acacia senegal (gorad), acacia nilotica (baval), mytenus emarginata (vikalo), and many more. The sanctuary is full of various types of grasses and scrubs. During the rainy season, the place brims with life and everything looks quite greenish.
Fauna:- The sanctuary shelters various species of animals that include nilgai, chinkara, Indian hare, wolf, mongoose, Indian porcupine, jackals, hyenas etc. The sanctuary also supports around 230 species of birds like bulbul, weaver bird and many more.
