Ramgarh cantt or Ramgarh cantonment is a town in Indian state of Jharkhand. It was born due to the bifurcation of Ramgarh district in the year 2007. Its name literally translates into the 'Fort of Lord Ram'. Ramgarh cantt has served as a military centre for the Sikh and Punjab regiment of the Indian army. The region of Ramgarh cantt has been ruled by the dynasties like Mauryas and Guptas, the Mughals and lastly by the British.
Ramgarh cantt sprawls across an entire area of 1,211 sq. km. and is entrenched on the banks of River Damodar. Coal is found in abundance in the vicinity of Ramgarh cantt. The climate of Ramgarh cantt is temperate in nature. The summers experience high temperatures with an average of 37°C and during the winters, the mercury level drops down to 10°C on an average.
Ramgarh cantt houses a number of tourist attractions. The remarkable tourist destinations in Ramgarh include the names like Rani Sati Temple, Rajarappa Temple, Vighneshwari Temple etc. The historical sites like Gandhi Ghat & Phaansi Ghar are other attractions in Ramgarh cantt.
