Constructed in the Indo-Tibetan style of architecture, Bon Monastery is a renowned pilgrimage site in Sikkim. It is located in Ravangla and is also known by the name of Bon Yung Dung Monastery. It is visited by the tourists extensively because it is one among the two monasteries that belong to Bon sect. The Bon sect entered the Indian borders in order to spread Buddhism and chose the serene land of Sikkim for establishing a sturdy foundation.

1) The followers of the Bon Sect established only two monasteries in India. One is located in Solan (Himachal Pradesh) and the other stands in Ravangla (Sikkim)

Bon Monastery welcomes its visitors throughout the year. Till date, there came no time when the monastery wasn't visited by anyone. Buddha Purnima is the best time for visiting this monastery. On the occasion, the entire monastery is decorated beautifully and special prayers are held in the main hall. Conch shells are blown and holy hymns are chants on the drum beats.
