Mahua Shiva Temple is a great historical temple in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is located in the village of Mahua that is considered as pious by the followers of Shaivism. This temple is a complex that enshrines the three Shiva temples that are located close to each other. Each temple stands in the Nagara style of architecture and has different carvings. 1) Mahua Shiva Temple is an ancient shrine of Lord Shiva often known as ‘Group of Temples’.
2) The first temple is known as Shiva Mandapika that is described as the temple of the early period. Neither it carries a dome on its roof nor has a door at the sanctum. Even the sanctum is empty at present.
3) The main Shiva Temple is an exemplary marvel of the Nagara period and has amazing exterior walls. The walls carry the stone sculptures in a semi-ruined state and house an ages-old Shivalinga.
4) The third shrine is dedicated to Goddess Chamunda, a manifestation of Goddess Parvati. It houses a life-sized monolithic structure of the Goddess depicted with several arms.
5) The same shrine also has carvings of Kartikeya and Ganesha on both sides of the temple gate.
