Located in Ganderbal district of Kashmir, Gadsar Lake is one of the must-see attractions in ‘Heaven of Earth’. This beautiful lake is known by the names of Yemsar Lake and the ‘Lake of Flowers’. It is a seasonal lake that is created after the snow melts. During the period between November-April, this lake remains frozen with a thick cover of ice. During this period, it serves as a perfect spot for frozen lake-trekking.

Gadsar Lake is famous due to its natural beauty. It is surrounded by the mighty white Himalayas and is a habitat for the trout fish. Due to the presence of trout fishes in abundance, the activity of fishing has become frequent by tourists and locals.
This lake holds an unsolved mystery with it that makes it even popular. According to the local shepherds, this lake is a home to the ‘Lake Monster’. The cattle animals that graze near the lake often go missing. It is assumed that the lake monster, most probably a huge octopus, drags them in the lake. Even the fishes are caught in the stream that flows nearby.
