Thane is a beautiful city located in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is fondly known as the 'city of lakes' due to the presence of 33 small lakes in the city. It is a well-established city and was ruled by the Peshwas in the bygone times. After the arrival of the British, the authority of the city was taken over by them and it became an important center for the British authority.
Beckoned by the beautiful Western Ghats, Thane is located on the Konkan coast of Maharashtra. It spreads across 147 sq. km. of land that is a rough terrain in a majority. Thane is surrounded by Palghar in North, Raigarh in South, Ahmadnagar in East, and the Arabian Sea in West. The climate of the city is defined as humid in nature. Amid the year, it encounters warm temperatures that scale between 26°C-37°C. The city also receives an adequate amount of rainfall during the monsoons with an average of 2800 mm.
