Kerala Kalamandalam is a recognized arts & cultural university in Thrissur district of Kerala. The establishment of this university gave a boost to the classical dance forms of Kerala, especially Kathakali, Kudiyattam, and Mohiniyattam. In the present-day scenario, this university has gained a lot of recognition in the nearby southern states of the country.

1) Kerala Kalamandalam is a university that emphasizes on the performing arts that are developed in the southern part of India

Brief History:-
During the Colonial Era, the South Indian culture faced a great threat as was on the verge of extinction. This was the result of the supremacy of the British officials. To keep the culture and art forms alive, Vallathol Narayan Menon and Mukunda Raja came forward to establish Kerala Kalamandalam.
It developed due to the donations it received from the society. The Maharaja of Cochin also donated a land and a building for it. Today, the university stands on the same land.
