Samayapuram Mariamman Temple is a sacred site for the followers of Hinduism in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. It is a Hindu shrine dedicated to Mother Goddess Adi Shakti. She is worshiped here in the form of Goddess Maha Kali. According to the folklore, the present-day area around this temple used to be an army base of Vijayanagar. The shrine of Goddess Adi Shakti was built after the army was victorious in the battle. Today, it is a major shrine that attracts devotees on a large scale.
