Trichy Government Museum is a remarkable tourist attraction in Tamil Nadu. This museum stands in the premises of Rani Mangammal Mahal that was built by the Nayak rulers. Trichy Government Museum was established in the year 1983 after the orders of the government of the state to have a museum in every district of Tamil Nadu. Today, it is visited by a large number of visitors of all age groups.

1) The different galleries of Trichy Government Museum display various artifacts. It includes the ancient coins, megalithic structures, musical instruments, palm-leaf manuscripts etc.
2) In this museum, one can also witness the idols of the Hindu religious figurines that are carved with perfection. All sculptures/idols date back between 13th-18th century
3) It also displays the exhibits related to geology, history, zoology, anthropology etc.
4) The ancient currencies used during the Chola empire is also displayed here

This museum remains open across the year, however, a prior confirmation should be made before visiting it during the festive days or on a national holiday. It remains closed on all the Fridays.
