Ucchi Pillayar Temple is a Hindu temple in Trichy. It is a 7th-century shrine that is located in the Rock Fort. This temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed Hindu God. This place got its name due to Lord Ganesha who placed the idol of Sri Ranganathaswamy firmly in the sands of Srirangam while Vibhishana was taking a bath in the pond nearby. Later on, Lord Ganesha was caught and hit on the forehead by Vibhishana. It was discovered ages after a Chola king and he placed the idol in the present-day Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple.
