Reckoned among the oldest zoos in India, Trivandrum Zoological Park is a popular travel attraction in Kerala. It was established in the 18th century by Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma, the Maharajah of Travancore. Initially, it was a menagerie where the feline predators like the tiger, lion, cheetah, panther etc. roamed freely. As the times advanced, the menagerie was developed and converted into a zoological park. At present, it houses a variety of fauna and avifauna and is visited by tourists on an extensive scale.
