Sivagiri Mutt is a renowned pilgrimage site located in the city of Varkala in Kerala. This pilgrimage site, built in the year 1904, stands on the hillock of Sivagiri. It houses the temple of Goddess Sharda (Saraswati) that was built by a renowned social reformer, Sree Narayan Guru. He was against the act of untouchable and advocated education for females. He breathed his last near the Sharda temple and his tomb was constructed to commemorate his death. Each year on his birth anniversary, hundreds of his followers visit his tomb and pay homage.
