The Temple's History Of Vedadri Yogananda Narasimha
The demon Somasura once kidnapped Lord Brahma, took the Vedas, and fled into the sea. For assistance in recovering the Vedas, Lord Brahma asked Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu slew the demon, assumed the Matsya-avatar form and rescued the Vedas in response to Lord Brahma's prayer.
The Vedas praised the Lord for preserving them and asked him to take up residence on their heads. With the execution of the demon king Hiranyakashipu, Lord Vishnu consented to live on the heads of the Vedapurushas.
Up until that point, it had been decreed that the Vedapurushas remain in the Krishnaveni river as a mountain. In addition, Krishnaveni River asked to be permitted to routinely worship the Lord. After defeating the demon Hiranyakashipu, Lord Vishnu made a vow that He would grant both of these requests at once.
