Located in the remote village of Edakkal in Wayanad district of Kerala, Edakkal Caves are a major tourist attraction. These caves were discovered in the 18th century by Fred Fawcett, the superintendent of police at that time. Whilst he was hunting, he found the cave and tried to explore it. Bewitched by the beauty of these caves, he decided to gather a team of archaeologists and excavate the site. During excavation, the representations depicting the human figurines, animals, holy symbols etc. were found.

Best Time To Visit:-
The best time to visit this place is between October-January. During this time, the weather remains pleasant and makes it feasible for the tourists to visit the place. Just remember to exclude the scorching summers as it can ruin the fun of exploring Edakkal Caves.
Reaching There:-
Edakkal Caves are located 16 kilometers from Sulthan Bathery. After hiring the local transit till Ambukuthi, you have to take a short trek route to reach the marvelous caves of Edakkal.
