Reckoned as a beautiful place to sit, unwind and relax, the Osaka Castle Park is a historical site cum an urban public park. Lying beside the south of the Okawa (Kyu-Yodo River), the Osaka Castle occupies a large land area in the center of Osaka. Even then, the park is the second largest in the country.
The castle was constructed in the year 1583, in place of Ishiyama Hongan-ji, a militant temple. Although, the park was open for the public, a large part of it was used by the Imperial Japanese Army. However, after the Second World War, almost all the military complex we removed to make way for the current urban park.
