About Khalid Shoman Foundation
The love for art made Khalid Shoman start collecting various works by Arab artists. His wife Suha, the Arab Bank and the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation supported him in this endeavor that led to the establishment of Darat al Funun in 1993. His dream of a future renaissance in the Arab world is now being pursued by his wife and children through a foundation dedicated to him, named- the Khalid Shoman Foundation.
Artistically Located
This art gallery is housed in three historic buildings, constructed in the 1920s, and located adjacent to the site of archaeological remains of a six century Byzantine church built over a Roman Temple. The place was abandoned and looked gloomy but the efforts of Khalid and Suha made it come alive. It is set amid a beautiful landscape, overlooking the heart of Amman city.
