Explore the wilds of Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary! The Mwaluganje Elephant sanctuary is situated in the Eastern part of Africa, in Kwale Diastrict. The sanctuary was established in the year 1933 with the aim to protect the African elephants from poachers. The sanctuary covers an area of around 36sq.kms and abounds in rich vegetation cover.
The sanctuary lies quite near to the Shimba Hills National Reserve. The sanctuary comprises of various hills, ridges, waterfall etc., which makes the ambience more picturesque. The most adventurous part of visiting the sanctuary is camping in the heart of the sanctuary. There are various tents and thus one can find a comfortable lodging at any such tent. There are around 20 beds fully furnished along with a verandah.
The chief attraction of the sanctuary is the elephant that are available here in abundance. One can easily see herds of elephants, while driving through the sanctuary. How to reach! The place can be easily reached by road as it is only 45kms from Mombasa, the sea-port of Kenya.
