Cathedral Peak is perhaps the most famous peak of the Drakensberg, situated in a popular hiking and rock climbing area where several free-standing rock pinnacles have been separated from the main escarpment by erosion. A vast network of trails stretches throughout the region, converging upon a main trailhead at the Cathedral Peak Hotel, east of the escarpment. Many excellent rock climbing peaks are accessible from this trailhead, the most popular being Monk's Cowl, Cathkin Peak, and Twins.
