Tomb of Askia

Tomb of Askia located in Gao, Mali, Africa is an UNESCO designated World Heritage Site. The place is of great cultural importance, as it is believed that Askia Mohammad I, a prominent Songhai Emperor, was buried here. The pre-colonial architecture of the Tomb of Askia was the first of its kind, which in future became a famous architectural style of Islam. The cultural and historical significance of the place make Tomb of Askia a popular name among the tourists of Mali.
