Due to its vicinity to the tropic of Capricorn, the climate of Mauritius is tropical. The period between November and April is warm and humid and the period between June and September is cool and dry. However, there is only about 4 degrees of difference between the temperatures of the two seasons. Most of the rains occur in the summer season and there is no definite rainy season.
The island of Mauritius was formed due to volcanic activity. The island is surrounded by a broken ring of mountain ranges. However, no active volcanoes are present in Mauritius.
Territory & Capital : The island of Rodrigues is also incorporated in the territory of Mauritius. It has gained autonomous status in 2002. The 49 uninhabited islands and islets around the coast of Mauritius are used as natural reserves for the protected species. Port Louis is the most populous city of the country and the capital of Mauritius. It is also the economic, political and cultural center of Mauritius.
Suitable Visiting Seasons : The period between July and December is the best time to visit Mauritius. There are minimal chances of rain and the temperatures are cooler. The best time for the divers is the period between December and March.
