Mozambique has two primary seasons: The period between October and March is the wet season while the period between April and September is the dry season. However, the rainfall varies from place to place. The precipitation is high in the coastal areas while it decreases towards the north and south. The average rainfall is measured at 590 mm (23.2 in).
The Zambezi River divides the nation into two topographical areas. The area north to the river is covered with hills and plateaus while the area to the south of the river is made broader by the Mashonaland Plateau. There are five principal rivers and five lakes.

Mozambique is located in the southeast coast of Africa between latitudes 10 degrees and 27 degrees S and longitudes 30 degrees and 41 degrees E. It is surrounded by Tanzania to the north, Indian Ocean to the east, Swaziland to the south, South Africa to the southwest, Zimbabwe to the west, Zambia and Malawi to the northwest.
Maputo is the capital of Mozambique. The Acacia trees which are found in abundance in the Maputo gave it the nickname City of Acacias.
Suitable Visiting Seasons :
The winter season in Mozambique occurs from April to September. The weather is most pleasant during this time and it is the best time to visit Mozambique. Game Parks are to be visited in the between August and September as the animals are then easily spotted in the water holes. Post-September is a good time for deep sea fishing while the most appropriate season for the bird watchers is November and December.
