The Junagarh Fort of Bikaner is a magnificent structure around which the city of Bikaner grew up. The fort was initially called Chintamani and was then renamed as the Junagarh or Old fort in the 20th century. The foundations of the Junagarh fort was built in 1478 by Rao Bika. However, it existed just as a stone fort then. The present grand structure was inaugurated on 17th February 1589. Besides having a rich history, the Junagarh Fort is a feat of architecture. Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Gondal - Ahmedabad

  After a good breakfast, proceed to Ahmedabad and en-route, visit Jalaram Temple (a holy site dedicated to Saint Jalaram Bapa) at Virpur. On reaching Gondal, visit the sacred Swaminarayan Temple as well as the ancient Naulakha Palace. Stop by at Kankaria Lake and also visit the fascinating Vintage Car museum. Drive to Ahmadabad and then transfer to Ahmedabad railway station or airport for your journey back home.

  and drive to Junagadh. Famed for numerous ancient monuments, the city stands as a reminder of its great history. Make a visit to some popular attractions like the Uparkot Fort (built by the emperor Chandragupta), Ashoka Rock Edicts, Mahabat Maqbara (a mausoleum built for Bahaduddinbhai Hasainbhai and once home to the Nawab rulers) and Junagadh Museum that houses some interesting artefacts of the rulers of Junagadh.
