Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB) – Kalimpong (80 km / 3 Hours Drive Approximately)

  Arrive at the New Jalpaiguri Railway Station or the Bagdogra airport, where our representative will receive you whole-heartedly. Transfers to Kalimpong will be arranged for and you will undertake a scenic drive then after.
  
  Respite from the heated sun to the soothing climes of this abounding hill station in Sikkim. You can behold the sights of some unique flora and fauna that will surround you on your way.
  
  On arrival, check in at the hotel and you can leisurely stroll around and soak in the electrifying ambience.

• Day 2 : Kalimpong Half Day Sight-Seeing and transfer to Gangtok

  After savouring an early breakfast, proceed for a half-day local sight-seeing in Kalimpong.
  
  First, visit the Deolo Hill which is the highest point in the town of Kalimpong. On a day when the skies are clear, you may also catch glances of snow-clad alps of Sikkim, River Teesta and the stunning Relli Valley that are observable from this hill.
  
  Then, head to the Science City. If you have a scientific bent of mind, this is the place for you. The centre finely explains practical applications to certain basic scientific phenomena. There is also a dinosaur park here which is a special attraction for kids.
  
  On your list, the next stop is at the Durbin Dara Hill. It is one of the two mountains on which the town of Kalimpong stands. It offers panoramic views of the entire valley, ranges of West Sikkim and the Teesta River.
  
  Lastly, visit the Jang Dong Palriffo Brang Monastery and Pine View Cactus Nursery. The monastery is a legendary institute and it is ever so peaceful. It is a specimen of Buddhist architectural style and the walls are adorned with spectacular paintings and vintage decorations.

• Day 3 : Gangtok (Tsomgo Lake Excursion and Baba Mandir)

  Kick-start your day with an early morning breakfast at around 8 a.m. on this Gangtok Kalimpong Lachen Lachung Darjeeling package tour and head out for some sightseeing in Gangtok.
  
  First, cover a 3-hour drive to the Tsomgo Lake that is located at a height of 12,400 feet. The glacial lake is sure to grab your eyeballs. The beautiful Tsomgo Lake is approximately 1Km long and is considered to be holy by the local people. A small temple is also built alongside the shore. The cool breezes and the charming beauty around are very captivating. The lake’s surface also reflects diverse colours with a change in the seasons.
  
  Then, soar further high at an altitude of 13,200 feet to reach the Baba Harbhajan Mandir. It is a shrine dedicated to the army officer who is revered as the hero of Nathula. He died by drowning in a stream nearby and it is assumed that his spirit still guards the area. • Day 4 : Gangtok – Lachen (125 Km / 6 Hours Drive Approximately)

  Have a stomach-filling breakfast and start your day early by checking out from the hotel in Gangtok and proceeding towards Lachen.
  
  It is a pristine valley that runs deep and is bordered by massive yet humbling snow-capped mountains. Try spotting rear birds such as the wood snipe and hoary-throated barwing which are rear to find but can be spotted in Lachen.
  
  En-route, visit the Singhik View Point and Seven Sisters Waterfalls. The viewpoint is a retreat from the noisy atmosphere of the crowded cities. It offers its visitors’ a stunning view of Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt. Siniolchu. The vast lush grasslands and shrubs along with apple orchards make it a delightful sight to behold.
  
  The Seven Sisters Waterfall is one of the most pristine waterfalls in the region. It derives its name from the very fact that it cascades in seven stages in a perfect harmony and is extremely enthralling. It is believed to be one of the most popular and noteworthy places in Sikkim.

  A 3-hours drive will take you to a valley that is perched at an altitude of 17,000 feet. The lake set here is considered to be holy by Sikhs, Buddhists and Hindus and is one of the highest lakes in the world. It is very close to the Tibet border and is encircled all around the year by snow-covered peaks.
  
  After sightseeing in Lachen, continue your journey towards Lachung. It is a region that is fully covered with Rhododendron forest. Visit the Chopta Valley and Thangu Valley on your way.
  
  Known for its varying hues, the Chopta valley is a very picturesque destination that is s positioned at an altitude of 13200 feet. Several water sports are also enjoyed by the river every year by adventurous tourists.
  
  Thangu is a small and cosy village that is decorated with vibrant alpine flowers. A lot of travellers cluster here every year for the spectacular hiking trails in the valley. It is an ideal place for photographers and nature lovers.
  
  Proceed with the drive and reach Lachung. On arrival, check in at the hotel and head out for sightseeing.
  
  Visit the Lachung Monastery, which is an ancient Nyingma Buddhist gompa set at an astonishing height of 9,600 feet. The monastery hosts a famous mask dance each year and if you are around, you must behold its absorbing sights.
  
  Return back to the hotel and spend the overnight in Lachung.

• Day 6 : Lachung – Yumthang Excursion – Gangtok

  Your destination for today is the Yumthang Valley. After kick-starting your day with a toothsome breakfast meal, check out from the hotel and drive to reach 11,800 feet above sea level to what is popularly known as ‘The valley of flowers’.
  
  Be prepared to get allured by the breath-taking beauty of Yumthang. This hamlet is home to a variety of Rhododendron trees, gushing rivers, hot springs, billy goats, yaks, horses and grazing pasture on rolling meadows. The valley is enclosed by the mighty Himalayan Mountains.
  
  Have lunch at one of the picturesque cafés and then depart for Gangtok. On the way, witness the serenity of Bheema and Twin Waterfalls. The place is not very commercialised and it is nestled in the middle of the dense forests. The force of the water is massive and it leaves the onlookers enthralled.
  
  An optional tour to the Zero Point can be arranged for on request. Set at an altitude of 15,300 feet, it is the last outpost of civilization. The Indo-China border lies few meters ahead and hence no one is allowed to go beyond this point.

Darjeeling is the destination for all those looking for a quick, short and peaceful retreat tucked far from the city.   Upon reaching Darjeeling, check in at the hotel and spend the rest of the evening at your own will. Enjoy some delicious local delicacies before retiring for the night at the hotel in Darjeeling.

• Day 8 : Full Day Local Sightseeing in Darjeeling

  A really early start must be made to this day. At 4 a.m., drive to reach 8,500 feet to the Tiger Hill. Here, you will witness the most spectacular sunrise and the sun’s rays will fill the dark sky and levitate over the third highest peak in the world, Mt. Kanchenjunga.
  
  As you make your way back down, make a quick visit to the Ghoom Monastery and enjoy the scenic views of the Batasia Loop. The unmatched natural beauty in the middle of which the monastery is nestled is a sight for sore eyes. The Batasia Loop on another hand is unarguably one of the most picturesque train routes in all of Darjeeling. It is this point where it coils itself and finally disappears into a tunnel.
  
  On arriving at the hotel, gulp a healthy breakfast and head out for some more sightseeing. Visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. Its aim is to promote and encourage mountaineering amongst the youth of the country. It also houses a museum that has various equipments for mountaineering.
  
  Also, visit the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park. It is closed on Thursday and it is home to an array of species and Himalayan animals. Then, head to the Tenzing Rock, which is a very famous rock-climbing site among people who love to, seek adventure.
  
  Enjoy an outer view of the Chitrey Tea Garden, which is the home ground for Darjeeling’s aromatic tea on your way to the Japanese Temple and the Peace Pagoda.
  
  Both these establishments help in providing focus to people of all castes and races to unite for a better and peaceful world.
  
  Then, go to Chowrasta and Mall Road for an evening stroll. Both these are well-known shopping arcades and you can shop for items made from bamboo and cane, pottery stuff, hand-stitched jackets, Thankas which are religious paintings and woollen shawls etc.
  
  After visiting all the local sightseeing places in Darjeeling, return back to the hotel for a well-deserved and peaceful good night’s sleep.
