An easy trip from your coastal resort, we’ll fill your day with elephants, giraffes, antelope, zebra… and maybe some big cats. Take a break from your coastal paradise and get your safari on at this legendary, large reserve, Tsavo East National Park.

Africa Kenya Safaris will pick you up at your Diani Beach or other resort for the easy drive to the park. This is big sky country with a rugged terrain stretching to the horizon, holding plentiful large and small game. The land reflects a distinctive rosy hue from its red-oxide soil. And you’ll find lots of the big elephants showing off their reddish “makeover” after rolling in this unique dirt bath.

On Tsavo’s great plains you’ll come upon volcanic artifacts like solidified lava tubes and great lava platforms, in contrast to the active wildlife. So slip off your sandals, put on your safari shoes and let’s get started.

What’s Cool About Tsavo East?
Ever hear tales about the ferocious Tsavo Lions? Your guide is sure to fill you in on the stories. The males are unique in that they lack the big characteristic manes like other lions, but their reputation as hunters is undeniable.

The park is also home to leopards, cheetahs, and smaller species like impala, duiker, and baboon. But you can’t miss the birdlife – some 500 types – from herons and buzzards above, to the unusual ostrich, running about on Tsavo’s generous plains.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Time Capsule: Full-Day Safari to Tsavo East National Park 2.5 Hour Drive

  4:00 am We’ve got lots to see today so we’ll start early. Your Africa Kenya Safaris driver/guide will swing by your hotel before dawn for the pickup in a private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep. Hop aboard and we’ll enjoy the sunrise en route to the park on the scenic Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
  
  At the park’s entrance, we’ll stop to rest, enjoy refreshments, and perhaps have an optional breakfast.
  
  The expanse of Tsavo East is spread out before us, just waiting to be explored. Hard to believe just a short distance from the beach, elephant, lion, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and so much more are waiting for your discovery.
  
  We’ll explore the plains of Tsavo East and visit popular watering holes like the Aruba Dam, where the park’s thirsty inhabitants come to refresh.
  
  Lunch will find us relaxing at the Aruba safari lodge, in view of the great plains stretching out in all directions.
  
  Then we’ll pile back into our 4 x 4 for some more game spotting – you never know what you’ll see in this vast reserve. Leave it to your guide to find the best viewing spots.
  
  And then in the late afternoon, he’ll point your Jeep back toward the coast. We’ll have you back at Diani Beach or other resort by 6:30 pm.
