This 2-day safari takes you to Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. You will depart early from Arusha for a 2-hour drive to Tarangire, where you'll enjoy a game drive to spot elephants, lions, and diverse bird species, followed by a picnic lunch in the park. In the afternoon, you'll continue wildlife viewing before returning to your lodge or campsite near Tarangire for dinner and an overnight stay.
On the second day, after breakfast, you'll drive to Ngorongoro Crater and descend into the caldera for a morning game drive, observing a variety of wildlife in this UNESCO World Heritage site. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed amidst breathtaking views before further exploration in the afternoon. Finally, you'll ascend back to the rim and drive back to Arusha, concluding your safari adventure. Experience the large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees of Tarangire, alongside the rich wildlife of Ngorongoro Crater, all set in stunning landscapes.
Day 1 : Arusha to Tarangire to Mto wa Mbu
In the morning, you will begin your safari with a drive to Tarangire National Park, bringing along a packed lunch. This park, roughly the size of Luxembourg, spans about 2,600 km². Its diverse landscape features savannahs, seasonal swamps, and towering baobab trees, providing a habitat for Masai giraffes, buffalo, hartebeest, eland, fringe-eared oryx, the uniquely long-necked gerenuk, and over 550 bird species. However, Tarangire is best known for its elephants, with herds of up to 300 roaming the park, making it one of the premier locations in East Africa to observe and get close to these magnificent animals. After a thorough game drive, you will head to Sunbright campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2 : Mto wa Mbu to Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
After breakfast, you'll drive to Ngorongoro and descend into the crater with a packed lunch. Within the world's largest caldera, you'll encounter a wide range of wildlife, including black rhinos, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, lions, leopards, elephants, and mountain reedbucks in the forested slopes. You may also spot buffalo, spotted hyenas, rare wild dogs, and some of the over 500 bird species found in the area. Following an extensive game drive and picnic lunch, you'll leave the caldera in the afternoon and return to Arusha, arriving in the early evening.
