Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrival

  Arrival and after completion of customs and immigration formalities you will be met at the airport by our representative, transfer to your hotel, have your safari briefings and introduction to your driver guide.

• Day 2 : Akagera National Park

  Have breakfast Drive to Akagera National Park which is set at a relatively low altitude on the border with Tanzania. Arrive at Akagera game lodge in time for lunch. Enter the national park for afternoon Game drive. The park is blessed with elephant, giraffe, buffalo, bush back and many more together with a number of bird species.

• Day 3 : Lake Ihema

  After breakfast, enter the park for a morning game drive, there are still plenty of animals around, a variety of wildlife that is ranging from flora and fauna and the birdlife is quite exceptional. The game drive will take at least 4hours then drive back to the lodge for relaxation while enjoying the lodge facilities. Have lunch thereafter enjoy an afternoon game drive with an optional boat ride on Lake Ihema.

• Day 4 : Nyungwe

  After breakfast, drive to Nyungwe via Kigali. You will have a stop over in Nyanza for a visit to the Royal Palace. After having lunch you proceed to Butare and visit the National Museum then drive straight to the wonderful rainforest of Nyungwe. Nyungwe is one of the few remaining national parks in the Albertine rift with a well endowed eco-system.

• Day 5 : Nyungwe Forest

  Breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for formalities and then hike into Nyungwe Forest or Cyamudongo forest in search of chimps. There is a lot more in Nyungwe than just chimps. Such as Colobus monkeys, mangabeys and various other primate species plus lots of forest dwelling birds will be encountered on the way. After trek, drive back to the lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the day leisurely.

• Day 6 : Nyungwe Forest

  Breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for formalities and then hike into Nyungwe Forest heading to the waterfalls. On your way you may meet various primates’ species plus lots of forest dwelling birds will be encountered on the way. Later after lunch, enjoy the drive to Kibuye on Lake Kivu shores, through beautiful rolling hills and Tea plantations enclosed by steep and green terraced hills along western Rwanda.

• Day 7 : Rubavu

  Have a leisurely breakfast; then drive to Rubavu, a beautiful lake resort on the shores of the Lake Kivu. Lake Kivu is the greatest Lake in Rwanda with freshwater expanse. Relax at the Lake, have lunch at Kivu Serena and later after lunch have an optional boat ride and explore the nearby islands and islets. In the afternoon enjoy walking to a hot springs, relaxing on the rugged shore of the highest African lake, bathing in its crystal clear waters.

• Day 8 : Musanze

  Very early morning after breakfast, drive to Musanze home to the Mountain Gorillas for gorillas tracking.Arriving in Musanze, proceed to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking formalities and briefing by the Volcanoes National Park’s guides on the gorillas’ etiquette. Your trek will vary in length depending on which gorilla group you have been assigned to and will commence at about 7,000 feet of altitude in the upper terraced slopes of the volcano. After locating your assigned Gorilla group you will spend one hour in their company. After your trek, drive back to the hotel for check-in and lunch. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

• Day 9 : Bulera And Ruhondo

  After a leisurely breakfast, visit the nearby villages and local communities or the local market of Musanze or visit to the little known but compellingly beautiful twin lakes of Bulera And Ruhondo.

• Day 10 : Departure

  After having breakfast at the hotel, enjoy the scenic transfer back to Kigali while viewing beautiful scenery all the way through comprised of rolling hills and varsity vegetation. When in Kigali, take up Kigali city tour including Gisozi Genocide Memorial (a grim reminder of senseless massacre of innocent’s lives in 1994) after proceed at the Airport on time for your departure flight.
