In this 13 -day flying safari we take you to the Pearl of Africa’s 3 most popular national parks being Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
The checklist of animals is tremendously long and not exclusive to Mountain Gorillas, Chimpanzees, White Rhinos, Elephants, Hippos, Crocodiles, Tree-Climbing Lions and access to over 420 bird species. Two tremendous boat launch safaris and a visit to the Batwa people of Bwindi, the original inhabitants.
We maximize your time with 3 internal flights to ensure you get maximum time experiencing the Pearl of Africa in either your choice of Luxury or Ultra-Luxury accommodation.
Day 1 : Arrival and Fly to Kidepo Valley
Your African Unique Safaris and Tours representative will pick you up at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport and transfer you to your Uganda Aerolink flight to Kidepo Valley National Park at 10am. Here they will give you a briefing on your tour and assist you through the check in process and on to your 2 hour flight.
Kidepo is Uganda’s most isolated National Park, but the few who make the long journey north through the wild frontier region of Karamoja would agree that it is also one of the most magnificent, for Kidepo ranks among Africa’s finest wildernesses.
The airstrip is only minutes away from the luxury Apoka Safari Lodge, in the heart of the park. A savannah landscape extends far beyond the gazetted area, towards horizons outlined by distant mountain ranges. Have lunch at the lodge and proceed to afternoon game drive where you will encounter a range of other wildlife species including Uganda Kobs, Reed Bucks, Oribis, Rich Bucks, Hippos, Crocodiles, Giraffes, Buffalo and Lions.
Day 2 : Karamojong Culture Experience
Mt Moroto Nature Walk
In the early morning we leave for a scenic nature walk through the valley of Mt Moroto, the highest mountain of Karamojong. During the walk we will set camp at a traditional village of the So Tepeth mountain people.
Participate in daily life in the Manyatta (village)
Immerse yourself in Karamojong culture. The afternoon is spent participating traditional games, daily activities as preparing staple foods, harvesting, beading, learning, dance, how to shoot bow and arrow and traditional friendly wrestling.
A Night with the Warriors (herders)
Experience typical Karimojong pastoral life by sleeping a night with the animals and shepherds in the Kraal. Help bringing the cows to the kraal, share stories around the campfire, play games with the warriors and learn how all about nomadic life. Enrich your experience with a more remote Kraal located 2hrs drive from Moroto town.
Day 3 : Game Drive, Sundowner and Night Safari in Kidepo Valley National Park After Early Breakfast You Wil
After early breakfast you will embark on a morning safari, to view the best Kidepo valley has to offer, a big chance to encounter a range of other wildlife species including Uganda kobs, reed bucks, oribis, rich bucks, hippos and crocodiles. Return to your accommodation for lunch and in the afternoon, you enjoy the nature walk. Visitors can also wander along the splendid Kidepo River Valley between banks of attractive borassus palm forest. Namamkweny Valley can be reached in about one hour from most lodges.
In the evening take a night safari and see the more nocturnal activities via spotlight and safari vehicle with your expert guides.

Day 4 : Ik People Trek and Experience
Mount Morungole (also known as Ikland) is located in the absolute northern hills of Karamoja. Here lives the smallest tribe of Uganda called the Ik. The Ik have always lived in nowadays Kidepo Valley National Park but have been displaced 50 years ago whereby the now lives on the mountain ridges.
Visiting the IK gives you a rare insight into a unique tribe in Africa. You will find stunningly beautiful Scenery the higher your climb takes you, simply breathtaking scenes in the valleys below you and into the Eastern Rift Valley of Kenya and over to Southern Sudan.
The trek up is step and takes around 4 hours. Once you get there you will be met by the children and Ik People, Uganda’s smallest minority. Once proud cattle owners they no longer practice this in fear of raids from other tribes. Now they reside in the remote hills and you will you join them in their bee keeping industry to experience how they extract the honey from the community owned bee hives. Satisfied from tasting the harvest, we visit their villages and experience their customs which are very unique. The Ik only recently had their first person qualify from University and now have a representative in parliament.
In the afternoon we will bid the IK fond farewell and descent for two hours admiring the views over Kidepo Valley. Dinner and overnight at APOKA SAFARI LODGE
Day 5 : Relax and Enjoy the Lodge Facilities or Go for a Final Morning Game Drive Befoe Check Out and Transf
Take a relaxing breakfast taking a long last memorable look over Kidepo Valley. You can either relax and enjoy the lodge facilities or take a final morning game drive before checking out and taking a flight from the nearby airstrip to your next adventure destination, Murchison Falls National Park.
The Chobe airstrip in Murchison Falls is right next door to the lodge. You can check in, have lunch and relax or take an afternoon game drive from the lodge. Chobe Safari Lodge is situated on the Northern side of the Great Nile River and this is considered the best area for game viewing in Murchison Falls.
Day 6 : Game Drive Murchison Falls Np. Boat Launch Sundowner On the Great River Nile.
After breakfast check out and take a game drive and explore the whole northern Murchison region. Elephants, Giraffes, Lions and many species of birds are at your pleasure.
Lunch is packed and you can enjoy it whilst on safari.
After lunch continue your game drive and head to the start of the Nile River Boat Launch Cruise. Here you get to spend 3 hours going up and down the mighty Nile with a highlight being the Murchison waterfall. Lots of opportunity to also spot Hippos and Crocodiles whilst the sun sets on the mighty river.
After the cruise you will be transported to your nearby accommodation for dinner and overnight at PARAA SAFARI LODGE.
Day 7 : Chimpanzee Trek in Budungo Central Forest Reserve & White Rhino Trek in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. After
After breakfast we will head off for an 8am rendezvous at Budungo Central Forest Reserve headquarters. At the park headquarters the rangers will give you a trek briefing before we head off to find our closest living relative.
Tracking Chimpanzees is a thrilling experience where one gets to meet his/her closest cousins have 98% DNA close to that of human beings. They are Sociable, intelligent as well as communicative and among their very fascinating traits is the ability to utilize tools like rocks for crushing nuts, empty pods for hollowing out water
plus sticks for capturing termites from their holes. These skills are for long been passed on from generation to another and researchers say that different troops have specialist tasks, basing on their habitat as well as diet.
Chimpanzees are tracked in different areas in Uganda and Budongo forest is among the best chimpanzee habitats in Uganda with 600 individuals and about 100 are habituated for tracking at KaniyoPabidi. Budongoalso has the largest natural mahogany forest in East Africa covering an area of 825 sq km.
The average weight of an adult well grown male chimpanzee is between 35 and 70 kilograms, with a height of approximately 3 meters whereas tan adult female chimpanzee weighs between 26 and 50 kilograms and a height between 2 and 4 feet.
A chimpanzee’s life expectancy is at 40 years whereas that for those living in captivity can extend up to 60 years.
In Uganda today, Efforts to actually conserve the chimpanzees are extensively acknowledged and well supported. Actually, The Jane Goodall Foundation has played a major role in the overall conservation of not only these Chimpanzees but the Gorillas as well found in Uganda.
Chimpanzees are the closest relatives to humans sharing about 98% of their DNA composition with humans.
Chimps stay in groups of 10 – 100 members. They can babysit each other’s young, kiss, groom one another and even hold hands. The young chimps become independent at the age of 4 year. Nonetheless, chimps can be aggressive and unsociable, mainly if disturbed.
Although they spend some time on ground, they normally feed and do make their sleeping nests up in the trees. Their diet varies comprising of leaves, seeds, fruit plus flowers.
You will most likely finish just before midday as we then transfer you to Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch. Unfortunately, the rhino became extinct in Murchison Falls National Park in the early 1990’s, however nearby the ranch is the proud home of the only wild rhinos in Uganda. The Rhino re-introduction project is a project of Rhino Fund Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Presently the sanctuary is home to twenty two (22) southern white rhinos. The sanctuary has become increasingly popular with tourists; for Rhino Trekking, Shoebill Trek and Canoe Ride, Bird Watching, Night Walk, Nature Walk and Relaxation.Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary which has 22 white rhinos roaming free and in a breeding program. Enter the territory of the southern white rhinos on foot. Well-trained rangers will guide you through the bush to where the rhinos are on the day of your visit. You will get the opportunity to watch these endangered, magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. As these rhinos are free to move around on 7 000 hectares of land, it is often necessary to drive to the areas where the rhinos are, before taking the bush trek.
While at the sanctuary you may also encounter a range of other wildlife species including Uganda kobs, oribis, bush bucks, water bucks among others and a number of other bird species.
After your Rhino trek we will transfer you back to your accommodation of choice for dinner and a perfect opportunity to share stories of your unique encounters today before retiring to bed at PARAA SAFARI LODGE.
Day 8 : Morning Game Drive or Rest Before Midday Flight from Pakuba Murchison Falls Np to Mweya, Queen Eliza
After breakfast you can rest or there’s time for a morning game drive as your flight leaves at 1:15pm. It’s a good idea to head towards the delta for a bird watching experience.
Check out by 11am and transfer to the nearby Pakuba Airstrip for your flight to Mweya, Queen Elizabeth National Park. It’s a terrific option as what would be a 10 hour drive is simply a 1 hour flight.
Arriving at 13:15 it’s only a short transfer to Mweya Safari Lodge to check in and freshen up before heading off to for a Kazinga Channel Boat Launch Safari and Sundowner at 4:30pm.
Kaznga Chanel is thought to have the highest concentration of Hippos in Africa and you will literally spot hundreds in amongst the water buffallo, crocodiles and myriad of birdlife. It’s an extraordinary experience and you may get to see some elephants as they often wonder down for a drink.
Return to your nearby accommodation of chioce for dinner and a chat about your exciting day at MWEYA SAFARI LODGE.
Day 9 : Queen Elizabeth Game Drive – Kasenyi and Kyambura Sectors
After breakfast, have your packed lunch and embark on a game viewing in Kasenyi plains which will reward you with sightings of the various animals like huge herds of Uganda cobs, elephants, lions, hippos, and warthog.
Have your packed lunch in route, and continue with the afternoon game view including a return game drive in the Kyambura Sector. Queen Elizabeth National Park is an Elephant lover’s dream and we are sure you will have plenty of close encounters. For the extremely lucky you might even catch a sight of the impressive but very shy leopard.
Return to the lodge and enjoy the beautiful sunset at your balcony, dinner and overnight at MWEYA SAFARI LODGE.
Day 10 : Transfer to the Southern Ishasha Sector, Queen Elizabeth National Park Via a Game Drive.
After a healthy breakfast we head south towards the Ishasha Sector. There’s plenty of game driving along the way and we will once again pack lunch and stop in route for a real safari lunch picnic.
Keep your eyes open for Hyenas, Buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, Leopard and Elephants, as well as the elusive Forest Hog.
Once you reach Ishasha check in to accommodation of choice to refresh, have dinner and overnight at ISHASHA WILDERNESS LODGE.
Day 11 : Game Drive and Tree-climbing Lions Experience. Afternoon Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
After breakfast your driver guide will take you through Queen Elizabeth National Park, Ishasha Sector.
Ishasha is only one of two places in the world where tree-climbing lions are found, the other being in Lake Manyara. Whilst all lions can climb trees these two prides are the only ones found to spend a majority of their time in trees. Seeing tree-climbing lions is usually a 50/50 chance but we guarantee seeing them as we organize an experience that includes the park tracking system and expert doctor.
Ishasha is also home to great population of Topis, not found anywhere else in this National Park. On the river you may spot hippos and the Ugandan national bird the Crested Crane. Lunch at your lodge before we transfer to a whole new ecosystem of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest only around 90 minutes’ drive away.
Dinner and overnight at your accommodation of choice in Buhoma, Bwindi.
Day 12 : Rare Mountain Gorilla Trek
After breakfast we head off for a 10-minute drive to the Uganda Wildlife Authority Bwindi Park Headquarters. The early morning briefing starts at 8am and hear the rangers will give you information on the trek, gorilla behavior and rules. Then you head off in to the Impenetrable Forest in search of these magnificent beasts. The advanced tracking group give your guides an indication of where the gorillas where located last night, however these creatures constantly move in search of food so the trek can take 2-6 hours in total.
When you come across the Gorillas you will sense the excitement as you get to spend and hour with the troop you have come across. It is often described as one of the great natural animal encounters on the planet. There are only around 1000 Mountain Gorillas left in the world and Bwindi has almost 1/3 of them.
They will entertain you with performances for about1hour and your guide can explain their behavior, language and relationships.
Dinner and overnight at your accommodation of choice.
Day 13 : Batwa Experience. Transfer to Kihihi Airstrip for Return Flight to Entebbe.
Have a most enjoyable breakfast regaling your stories and encounter with the Mountain Gorillas. After breakfast we head off to meet the Batwa. The Batwa are the original inhabitants of these forests, however today they are a displaced minority since the early 1990’s. This cultural tour is a re-enactment but a very real one as many members still recall living as forest dwellers and these tours now help them earn income, ensure their traditions and skills are practiced as well as pass on these traditions to the next generation. Their bush skills are a delight and their small stature will amaze. Thought to be an adaptation over thousands of years to living and moving in the thick rainforest conditions.
After the Batwa we return to the lodge to check out and refresh, have lunch and your drive guide will transfer you to Kihihi Airstrip for you to fly back to Entebbe for you International Flight back home.
