Day 1 : Arrival Entebbe Airport
The 13 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari starts with your arrival at the airport, upon which you will be warmly welcomed by our guide who will then take you to Protea Hotel in Entebbe (High end) or The Boma Hotel in Entebbe (Mid range) or Entebbe Airport Guest House (Budget facility)
Day 2 : Half Day Visit Ngamba Chimpanzee Island - Kampala
Today you after your morning breakfast ready for transfer to Entebbe mainland to aboard a speed boat to Ngamba Island. The Island is a chimpanzee sanctuary managed by the Jane Goodall Institute. You will view an afternoon feeding, of the chimpanzees from the visitors platform area along the edge of the sanctuary fence, hear an informative talk by sanctuary staff, orphaned and injured chimps are taken care of from this place and look after them, most especially those that are infants and cannot take care of themselves. A round tour of the Island is a must with lunch at the Sanctuary. Thereafter return by speed boat to the mainland and be transferred to Kampala. Overnight stay at Serena Kampala Hotel (High end) or Cassia Lodge (Mid range) or Forest Cottages Kampala (Budget end) for an overnight and dinner.
Day 3 : Kampala - Murchison Falls National Park
Begin the panoramic drive north-west through the famous Luwero Triangle and, travel to Masindi via Ziwa Rhino Project. A visit to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino trekking is a must. After lunch, drive to Murchison Falls “. Overnight and dinner at Parra Safari Lodge (Lodge facility) or Murchison River Lodge (Mid Lodge facility) or Heritage Safari Lodge (Budget Facility)
Day 4 : Murchison Falls National Park Safari
Begin the day with a cup of African Coffee. After your cup of coffee, cross the Nile by ferry to the northern bank of the park. Your guide will help you spot Elephant, Lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, hartebeest, Waterbuck, Oribi, Bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. Return to the hotel for breakfast and lunch. After lunch, go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. En-route, marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over this 17 km stretch you may see elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob crocodile. This is also a zone of many bird species like Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. There you leave the boat and start your – quite heavy – hike to the Top of the Falls (approx. 1 hour). See where the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. Your driver/guide will be waiting for you to bring you back to the lodge. Overnight and dinner at Parra Safari Lodge (Lodge facility) or Murchison River Lodge (Mid Lodge facility) or Heritage Safari Lodge (Budget Facility)
Day 5 : Murchison Falls National Park - Kibale Forest National Park
All day drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant countryside and past traditional homesteads and farms along Albertine Rift escarpments. Fort-Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon. Meals and over night at Kyaninga Lodge (Lodge facility) or Primate Lodge-Forest Cottages (Mid Lodge) or Chimpanzee Forest Guest House (Budget facility) . A stunning location overlooking a dramatic Crater Lake and the fabled “Mountains of the Moon”.
Day 6 : Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Walk
Early morning trek for chimpanzees. Kibale is the best reserve in Africa to view chimps, a thick jungle with a towering canopy. Afternoon you will go for a nature walk to the Bigodi swamp- to see unique flora and fauna. Meals and over night at Kyaninga Lodge (Lodge facility) or Primate Lodge-Forest Cottages (Mid Lodge) or Chimpanzee Forest Guest House (Budget facility). A stunning location overlooking a dramatic Crater Lake and the fabled “Mountains of the Moon”.
Day 7 : Kibale Forest National Park - Day 1 Rwenzori Mountain Hiking
Start at Trekkers at 1,450 meters and sleep at Sine Hut at 2,596 meters being a height gain of 1,146 meters, or those who are fit and want to proceed to Kalalama Camp at 3,134 metres may do so and apart from the fantastic views of both the cliffs above and views across the lowlands and across Lake Edward in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
We start by walking up the valley floor through tall forest trees of the Afro Montane Forest Zone. This is a steady climb for the first six kilometres then after crossing a river it is a steep climb up to Sine Camp. The forest trees are tall with multitudes of birds and a chance of seeing blue monkeys scampering off through the forest. Enock’s Falls are just 200 meters from Sine Hut and offer a splendid opportunity to capture a great screensaver for your memories as brightly clouded green lichen grow on the many lives hanging from the trees with the waterfall as a background.
At Sine Camp 2,596 metres we have wooden huts set between tall forest trees on a narrow ridge where you may sit and enjoy the beauty forest while you look down at a long set of rapids and waterfall crashing over the rocks. Some clients prefer to sit outside enjoying the warmth of the campfire and chat to the guides about the mountains and life in their community. Sine is just below the bamboo zone and the area around has many different bird species. 150 meters from the camp is Enock falls which is set in livid green vegetation and hanging vine. Truly beautiful. You can sleep at Sine Camp, or those who are fit and want to proceed to Kalalama Camp at 3,134 metres may do so and apart from the fantastic views
Day 8 : Day 2 Rwenzori Mountain Hiking - Queen Elizabeth National Park Tour
After a good breakfast and depending on which camp you slept in depends of todays activities. If you slept in Kalalama Camp you will hear the calls of the Rwenzori Turaco which loves living and nesting in the Giant Heathers which are abundant here. You may choose to search out the Turaco to get good photos or you may decide to climb up at little farther to see the mosses growing on the ground, logs and trees before returning down to just above Sine Camp where you take the trail on the left slope down to Enock Falls which is truly beautiful and walk down through some incredibly beautiful forest. The forest walk is a steady descent through pristine forest with a multitude of birds. There are several patches of bamboo while other areas the trees are laced with hundreds of vines hanging between trees which have bright green lichen on them. This section of forest is spectacular and just before you get to Sine Camp you walk across a stream immediately below a beautiful waterfall. At Sine Camp you sit on the verandah and look down to a stunning set of rapids cascading down the valley.
Or if you had decided to sleep in Sine Camp you may decide to walk straight down the forest walk or you may climb up to Kalalama Camp to experience to views before passing back down to the park entrance. Proceed and drive to the south into Queen Elizabeth National Park, sightseeing and game viewing enroute. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (Lodge Facility) or Enganzi Lodge (Mid Lodge) or Wild Track Safari Lodge (Budget Facility)
Day 9 : Queen Elizabeth National Park Tour
Begin your day with a cup of coffee. Early morning game drive along Kasenyi and Queens Mile makes visitors encounter elephants, buffalo, water bucks, warthogs, lions, Uganda Kobs lakes and a variety of birds. Return to the lodge for breakfast and lunch. After lunch, a two hour boat trip along the famous Kazinga channel is worthwhile an opportunity to see Hippo, Buffalo, Kobs, Elephants, warthogs etc. This trip also enables visitor chance to see spectacular birds. . Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (Lodge Facility) or Enganzi Lodge (Mid Lodge) or Wild Track Safari Lodge (Budget Facility)
Day 10 : Queen Elizabeth National Park Tour - Ishasha
With previous day’s memories, enjoy your breakfast ready for guided Chimpanzee/primate walk along Kyambura Gorge to look for habituated chimps through the gorge. After primate walk, proceed to Ishasha. You will drive along the deep and wide dry craters that are occupied by savanna grasses and acacia. The drive takes you through the unique western rift valley escarpment and the (southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park) Ishasha sector where you will take on yet another game drive in search of tree climbing lions. Overnight at Ishasha Wildness camp (high end) or Ishasha Jungle Lodge (Mid lodge) or @The River Ishasha (Budget facility)
Day 11 : Ishasha - Bwindi Forest National Park
Morning guided bush walk in Ishasha to appreciate nature and a mid morning tree climbing game drive before proceeding to Bwindi forest National Park. The journey takes about 2 hours but driving through interesting features. Arrive Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the evening. This park is home of the rare mountain gorillas. Apart from gorillas, there are a wide variety of primates to see including the blue and red tailed monkeys. The forest itself is lush and green and there are streams running through it. Dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Lodge (high end lodge) or Sliver back Lodge (Mid range) or Buhoma community Bandas (Budget facility)
Day 12 : Bwindi Gorilla Tracking
After breakfast set off early with guides to track the gorillas. The thrill of your encounter will erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Bring jungle boots and rain jackets because the park is often wet. Spend time in awe watching the gorillas go about their activities. Each gorilla safari encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a magnificent green swathe of dense rainforest, so ancient that survived the last ice age. A recently proclaimed World Heritage site, it’s one of the most biologically diverse areas on
earth and its unique, precious flora sustains roughly half of the world population of mountain gorillas – believed to number just 720. There’s also a substantial chimpanzee population and research shows that Bwindi is the only forest in Africa in which these two apes live together.
Time permitting, spend the afternoon on a community foot safari to explore the life style of the people living and surrounding the park. Return to camp exhilarated to relieve the encounter with friends over a drink. Dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Lodge (high end lodge) or Sliver back Lodge (Mid range) or Buhoma community Bandas (Budget facility)
Day 13 : Bwindi Forest National Park - Kampala/Entebbe
After early breakfast, Drive back to Kampala with a visit to Igongo Cultural village to explore and learn the Bahima and Ankole culture. This is the place where the future meets the past. Continue your drive to the Equator crossing with your lunch enroute before you drive to back to Kampala/Entebbe to catch up your evening flight back home. End of Service
