The 18 Day Uganda Honey Moon Holiday to Uganda tourist attractions and visiting wildlife, people and culture, primates and birds. You can experience this holiday you can go self drive or with the guide.
Day 1 : Entebbe – Jinja
Your driver guide will meet you at the airport guest house after breakfast for a transfer to Jinja via Kampala. Arrive Jinja on-time for lunch; thereafter drive to the source of the Nile gardens. Here you will take on a boat trip to the source of the famous River Nile plus white water rafting as you will have a picnic lunch at one of the islands as you raft the Nile. Overnight and dinner at Wild Water Lodge/Haven Lodge Jinja/Nile River Explorers Camp.
Day 2 : Jinja-Samuka Island Holiday
After breakfast in the morning, you will transfer to Samuka Island which is a haven to more than 50 bird species and it is also one of the two breeding sites for the rear species of the long tailed Cormorants and little Egrets in Uganda and perfect get away for honeymoon couples seeking a relaxing, peaceful and yet beautiful destination within Uganda. So you can bird watching, a boat cruise and a lot of game to play plus swimming. Dinner and overnight at Samuka island resort.
Day 3 : Mount Elgon – Kidepo Valley National Park
You will have breakfast and then climb from Mude camp to Wagagai Peak which is 4,321 m high. This will take about 4 hours. Later you will descend and then drive Kidepo Valley National Park with en-route passing through the Karamoja region. Dinner and overnight at Apoka Safari Lodge/Nga’moru Wilderness Camp/Apoka Banda’s. Day 4 : Kidepo Valley National Park
Breakfast and then go for a very early morning game drive to catch up with the early risers such as lions, and leopards, other animals to be spotted include Bat-eared Fox, Stripped Hyena, Cheetah, Caracal Lesser, Greater Kudu, Roan Antelope, Besia Oryx, Eland, Defassa Water buck, Oribi, Bohor Reed buck, and Jackson’s Hartebeest, Rothschild Giraffe and Burchell’s Zebra, Lions, white Buffalo and Elephants which can be seen in Narus Valley. You will return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon visit the local communities and do activities with them like milking of the cows and participating in their traditional dances. Dinner and overnight as above.
Day 5 : Kidepo Valley National Park
Have breakfast and after spend another day in the park for more game drive looking for the wildlife species and bird life species as this park is one of the Uganda’s best birding destinations. Dinner and overnight as above, Meal plan: F/B
Day 6 : Kidepo Valley – Murchison Falls National Park
Breakfast and drive to Gulu Town which is about 5-6 hours. You will have lunch upon arrival in Gulu town and then after proceed to Murchison Falls National Park at the northern bank and Dinner and overnight at Fort Murchison Camp. Meal plan: F/B
Day 7 : Murchison Falls National Park
Early riser’s breakfast, thereafter set out for an early morning game drive in the park with high chances of spotting the nocturnal lions, leopards and hyenas. Other animal sighting include; large buffalo herds, Elephants, giraffes, water bucks, Jackson heart beasts, Uganda Kobs, Oribi, warthogs etc. Afternoon boat trip to the bottom of the falls. Enjoy a ranger guided hike to the top of the falls where you will meet your driver guide waiting to transfer you to return to the Lodge for dinner & Overnight. Meal plan: F/B
Day 8 : Murchison Falls National park – Kabwoya Game Reserve
Breakfast and thereafter check out the lodge and embark on a morning game drive through the park to the delta, and after cross and transfer to Kabwoya Game Reserve and if you arrive in time take the optional boat ride along the Lake Albert and then dinner and overnight at Lake Albert Safari Lodge. Day 9 : Kabwoya Game Reserve – Fort Portal-Sebitoli Reserve
Early morning prepare for morning game drive as you spot lots of wildlife here in Kabwoya such as Uganda Kobs, Warthogs, other antelopes and more. The wildlife reserve lies a typical fishing village where you can visit and see what life is like for the people who make out a living here by fishing. Guided Hikes and Nature Walks are a very popular activity on the Kabwoya Wildlife Reserve. There are over 460 species of birds found on the reserve and birders delight of being out spotting them, so as you head to fort portal you can spots different bird species. Day 10 : Sebitoli Reserve – Lake Nkuruba Camp
With early morning breakfast, you set off for a guided forest walk and you will get a chance to encounter primates such as red Colobus, black-and-white Colobus, blue monkeys and vervet monkeys and you may also spot a variety of aquatic, forest and Savannah birds and enjoy views of the Mpanga River. In the evening you head to Lake Nkuruba camp to explore one of the world’s densest concentrations of volcanic crater Lakes. Dinner and overnight at Nkuruba Cottage Camp, Meal plan: F/B
Day 11 : Kibale Chimpanzee Trek/Habituation – Bigodi Swamp walk
Early morning with breakfast you proceed to Kanyanchu tourism Centre because chimp trek starts at 8:00am in the morning and at 2pm in the afternoon and it tends to last between 2 to 5 hours including one full hour of direct interaction with them. Besides Chimpanzee trekking, there is Chimpanzee habituation. The chimpanzee habituation commences as early as 6am in the morning to catch up with chimpanzees as they leave their nests. The habituation experience runs during tourist whole year round and It takes the whole day as they set out to feed, copulate, hunt, patrol, and rest and display until they set for overnight at 7pm. The activity is designed to enable you explore Chimpanzees in detail. Optional visit to the Bigodi swamp for birding as you get exposed to birds like; Rwenzori Turaco, Crested fly catcher, Red Winged Francolin, Red- chested fluff tail, Red Winged Francolin, Joyful Greenbul, Green- breasted Pitta, Grey winged Robbin, Red Winged Francolin and Abyssinian Ground Thrush among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Kibale Forest Camp. Meal plan: F/B
Day 12 : Kibale Forest – Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast check out of the lodge and head to Queen Elizabeth national park. The drive passes though Fort Portal southwards along the Eastern length of the Rwenzori Mountains. On a clear day you may see the glaciated peaks as you gently descend into the Great Rift Valley to the park. Queen Elizabeth National Park covers about 2,000 square kilometers and spreads along the eastern shore of the Rift Valley’s Lake Edward. Afternoon we drive to Maramagambo forest for a nature walk where we may observe thousands of birds. Dinner and overnight at Bush Lodge, Meal plan: F/B
Day 13 : Game Drive & Boat Ride
Begin your day with a cup of coffee. Early morning game drive along Kasenyi and Queens Mile makes visitors encounter elephants, buffalo, water bucks, warthogs, lions, Uganda Kobs lakes and a variety of birds. The afternoon activities will include the exciting 3 hour launch trip on the Kazinga Channel, which is home to countless hippos, as well as baboons and abundant bird life. Day 14 : Ishasha Southern Sector – Lake Mutanda
Early morning with breakfast drive through the Ishasha Sector, which takes you through the unique western rift valley escarpment to search the tree-climbing lions of Ishasha along with large herds of elephants, topi and Uganda Kobs, antelopes, buffaloes, leopards, warthogs, to name a few. Later proceed to Lake Mutanda Resort for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B
Day 15 : Gorilla Trek/Habituation – Lake Mutanda Canoe
On this day, you will have an early morning breakfast, to give you the energy for trekking. After breakfast proceed to the trekking starting point which starts at 8:00am with a short briefing from your ranger guides at the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters. Ensure to carry all the requirements you may need for trekking such as drinking water, rain jacket, snacks, jungle boots etc. The guide who will be assigned to you will lead you into the jungle in search of the shy primates. You will be put into groups of a maximum of 8 people. Remember to carry your lunch boxes and all the required gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth.
Mountain Gorilla Trekking takes between one to six hours depending on where the gorillas are located. In the afternoon you will proceed for a village walk. The Buhoma Village Walk will give you the opportunity to interact with the people living around Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This is another way of supporting the local people directly. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Besides gorilla trekking tours you can experience gorilla habituation which is a full day activity staying with the mountain gorillas in the mist. It is only done at the Rushaga side and to only 2 gorilla families (Bikingi &Bushaho) and in a group of 4 people and to take this you need to book in advance with 4×4 Car Hire Uganda.
Day 16 : Lake Mutanda – Lake Mburo National Park
With morning breakfast, contemplate your day as you enjoy a nice drink whilst listening to the enganga traditional guitar and relax watching birds. From here you continue to Lake Mburo, a small but picturesque national park renowned for its herds of antelope and one of the only two Ugandan parks home to Burchell’s zebra. The park is also especially good for acacia-associated bird. You can opt for a game drive or boat cruise late in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Rwakobo Rock Lodge/Mburo Eagle’s Nest Camp. Meal plan: F/B
Day 17 : Lake Mburo National Park – Lake Nabugabo
Rise early for breakfast before a short drive to the Rwonyo Park Headquarters. This has often been a good chance of seeing hyenas coming back to their dens, hippos walking back to the water, you will see buffalo, zebra, impala and topi and with a bit of luck maybe even a Sitatunga, an antelope rarely seen living in the papyrus swamps. After your early morning activities, return the lodge for a late lunch. In the afternoon proceed for a boat cruise and you will be able to see crocodiles as they bask on banks of lake, hippos resting in water after an overnight grazing, many birds including the rare African Fin foots, Pied King fisher’s, Hadada ibises, African Fish eagles, Palm nut vulture and luckily enough see the endangered shoe bill. Transfer to Lake Nabugabo for dinner and overnight at Nabugabo Camp. Meal plan: F/B
Day 18 : Lake Nabugabo – Kampala/Entebbe
The morning will be yours to enjoy, in the water or on the forested shores. Nabugabo has sand beaches, is safe for swimming and has been declared a protected Ramsar wetland. Proceed to Kampala, en route we will stop at the Equator for photographs and ‘polar-water experiment’, then a local community popular for making local drums at Mpambire Village, gardens, crafts shops and fruit markets then to Entebbe for departure.
