Khotang Halesi Mahadev Cave, also known as Halesi Cave, is one of the significant caves located in the Khotang district, Nepal. It is a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists and Kirat is believed to be the sacred abode of Lord Shiva, Gur Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), and Paruhang.
The Halesi Mahadev Cave involves of several caves, each with its own religious and cultural significance. The main cave, also known as the Halesi Mahadev Temple, is the most revered and attracts a large number of devotees.
Inside the cave, you will find the sacred lingam, a representation of Lord Shiva. Devotees offer prayers, perform rituals, and seek blessings at the temple. It is believed that offering prayers and meditating in the cave brings spiritual enlightenment and fulfillment of desires.
Apart from the main cave, there are other notable caves in the area, such as the Maratika Cave and Gorakhnath Cave. The Maratika Cave is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati meditated and attained immortality. It holds immense religious significance, particularly for Tibetan Buddhists, who consider it a sacred site associated with Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava).

Day 1 : Drive to Halesi Mahadev from Kathmandu!
To reach Halesi Mahadev Temple there is road access from Kathmandu, a Scenic drive can take approximately 6-8 hours.
Check-in: Upon arrival in Halesi Mahadev Temple, you will check in to a hotel or guesthouse near the temple.
After Being refreshed Visit Halesi Mahadev Temple: Explore the temple, offer prayers, and learn about the religious significance of the site.
Explore the Caves: There are several caves surrounding the main temple. Take the opportunity to explore these caves, including the famous Maratika Cave, which is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Parvati meditated.
Overnight stay: Spend the night at a hotel or guesthouse near Halesi Mahadev.
Day 2 : Morning Prayers and in the afternoon departure to Kathmandu.
Morning Prayers: Start your day with morning prayers at Halesi Mahadev Temple. And after completing the sightseeing have Lunch at the same hotel as you have stayed and in the afternoon drive back to Kathmandu.
Departure: Arrive in Kathmandu and continue your onward journey or depart for your home destination.
