A stunning scenic journey to the “Bonnie” banks of Loch Lomond, and the picturesque conservation village of Luss. Spectacular drive over the dramatic ” Rest and be Thankful” to the charming highland town of Inveraray, and it’s ” fairytale” castle home of the Duke of Argyll, Chief of the Clan Campbell. Time here to wander along the towns narrow back streets or perhaps lunch at the popular 250 yr old George Hotel, before following the shores of Loch Fyne, to Kilmartin Glen, one of the most important Neolithic and Bronze Age, sites in Scotland. Time here to explore the ancient fortress of Dunnadd, Neolithic stone circles and burial cairns, before making our way to the attractive fishing port of Oban, where we shall stay overnight. Note- Oban, has a selection of wonderful seafood restaurants and traditional bars to enjoy in the evening.
Leaving Oban, behind this morning we head to the iconic Castle Stalker, before journeying to the spectacular natural beauty of Glencoe, Scotland’s most famous valley. Time here to marvel at the spectacular high mountains and learn the tragic tales of Glencoe’s bloody past, before travelling through the wide expense of Rannoch Moor and the scenic Bridge of Orchy mountains. After making a rest stop at the popular green welly, we continue south passing through the pretty highland village of Crainlarich, to view The falls of Falloch, and a photo stop at the iconic Drover’s Inn, before making our way along the banks of Loch Lomond, but from a different prospective to your accommodation. and sadly say our fond fair wells.
My name is Ricky Henderson, a proud native Scot, born and bred in the west end of Glasgow. When I set up About Scotland Tours in 2010, it was with the sole purpose of providing our guests with a more flexible, relaxed and fun experience. We do not stick to rigid timetables like large coach tours, which gives our guests more time to explore Scotland’s historic castles, ancient neolithic sights and wee hidden gems.
For as long as I can remember ( around 30 years or so ) I have had a real passion for my country Scotland, learning our diverse cultures, ancient history and exploring the natural beauty of our spectacular landscapes and rugged mountain glens. I want to share it with you and introduce you to the very best of Scotland, you wouldn’t get to see with rigid bus tours. Read More...
