You will leave Istanbul on an early morning transfer to Gallipoli. Upon your arrival you will visit the sights of the Gallipoli Battlefield, including Lone Pine, The Nek and Chunk Bair.
Subject of a 1981 film starring a young Mel Gibson, Gallipoli was the setting of the first major World War 1 battle undertaken by Australian and New Zealand troops. Both nations suffered terrible casualties and the battle marked a significant victory for the Turkish campaign against the Allies.
It is commemorated every year in April on Anzac Day. You can visit Anzac Cove where the Allied troops first landed, see the marble and bronze memorial monuments, and visit the poignant war cemeteries.
Continue to Canakkale for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel by your guide and driven to Troy. Once one of the most important cities in northwest Anatolia, today it sits in ruins on the plain of Ilium and is an archaeological wonderland.
Explore the ruins and learn about Greek Mythology, with only the impressive views across the Dardanelles and Mount Ida to distract you.
After the tour you will take a bus back to Istanbul where the trip ends when we drop you safely back to your hotel.
