Exploring the natural beauty of the Scottish highlands, this 2 day experience will take you to the rugged mountains of Glencoe, the world famous Loch Ness, and it’s mysterious legendary “monster” and includes an overnight stay in the capital of the highlands Inverness.
A stunning, scenic journey to the “Bonnie” banks of Loch Lomond, with time to explore the picturesque village of Luss, the spectacular natural beauty of Glencoe, the highland town of Fort William, a stop at the moving Commando Memorial which offers fantastic views of Ben Nevis and the famous Loch Ness, where you can enjoy either a cruise on the loch or a visit the impressive 13th-century ruins of Urquhart Castle. Your overnight stay will be in the highland ‘capital’ Inverness.
Leaving Inverness this morning, today’s highlights will include;- Culloden Moor where you can visit the Culloden Battlefield and explore its fascinating story, Clava Cairns a 3,500-year-old burial site, and on to the Cairngorm National Park.
From there you have some options including a visit to Dalwhinnie distillery or alternatively a visit Blair Atholl Castle, the ancestral home of the Clan Murray. Arriving in Perthshire you’ll visit the pretty Victorian town of Pitlochry before continuing on to the Hermitage waterfall and Dunkeld Cathedral before making our way to view the impressive fortress of Stirling Castle. ( photo stop) We then make our way to your accommodation where we sadly say our fond fair wells.
My name is Ricky Henderson, a proud native Scot, born and bred in the west end of Glasgow. When I set up About Scotland Tours in 2010, it was with the sole purpose of providing our guests with a more flexible, relaxed and fun experience. We do not stick to rigid timetables like large coach tours, which gives our guests more time to explore Scotland’s historic castles, ancient neolithic sights and wee hidden gems.
For as long as I can remember ( around 30 years or so ) I have had a real passion for my country Scotland, learning our diverse cultures, ancient history and exploring the natural beauty of our spectacular landscapes and rugged mountain glens. I want to share it with you and introduce you to the very best of Scotland, you wouldn’t get to see with rigid bus tours. Read More...
