Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Flight Arrives from Doha to Johanessburg. Overnight At Johannesburg Airport.

    Your flight from Doha arrives at Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport around 4pm. After clearing customs catch the free shuttle service to your accommodation just 10 minutes down the road.

  • Day 2 : Arrive Victoria Falls and Walking with the Lions Experience.

    After your complimentary breakfast check out and return via the free airport shuttle service to O.R. Tambo International Airport in time to catch your Victoria Falls flight with South African Airlines at 10:50am. Your flight will arrive at 12:25pm and you will get a glimpse of the magnificent Victoria Falls on your way in. A Shearwater Lodge representative will be there to pick you up and transfer you to Shearwater for check in.
    At 2:45pm you will be picked up from Shearwater and taken to Masuwe Estate, only 10 minutes from the centre of Victoria Falls town you’ll find a group of lion cubs ranging from 3 to 16 months of age.
    These lion cubs offer guests an unparalleled experience and insight into the behaviour of this threatened African species.
    The “walking with lions” encounter is an opportunity to interact with 2 or 3 cubs for up to an hour and a half during a single session.
    The lions are unrestrained and roam free as you join them on a walk through riverine vegetation and African bush on the banks of the Masuwe River.
    The encounter is fully supervised and professionally managed by an experienced and qualified team who have been working with lions for over 20 years originally at Gweru’s Antelope Park.
    This activity is available in Zimbabwe only but arrangements can be easily made for guests staying in Livingstone on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls.
    African Encounter has established Victoria Fall’s first “Lion Encounter”. This activity offers a once in a lifetime insight into the behaviour and social aspects of one of Africa’s most sought after photographic subjects, the Lion.
    The training techniques used by the Lion Encounter team are based on years of experience gained by the management and staff who have been walking and interacting with lions for over 20 years. (By early 2005 approximately 15000 walks had been conducted without incident proving the efficacy of the training and rehabilitation techniques adopted).

  • Day 3 : Guided Tour of Victoria Falls, Angel Flight and Zambesi Sundowner.

    Duration: Approx 1½ – 2½ hours depending on how much time clients want to spend taking photographs and admiring the spectacular views.
    A knowledgeable guide will take you on an unforgettable experience through the Victoria Falls rainforest, a journey that not only affords a view of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World but provides a great deal of interesting facts about the geology, wildlife and history of Africa’s most famous landmark. Listen to magical tales of local legend while you enjoy the constant spray from the “The Smoke that Thunders”.
    The Shearwater guide will also help ensure the best photographic opportunities of this breathtaking World Heritage Site. At the end of the tour, Shearwater’s own Rainforest Cafe provides an ideal place to stop and refuel before your next adventure.
    In the afternoon it’s time to take the “Flight of Angels”. This is an amazing journey over the 1700m vast curtain of water known locally as the “MosioaTunya” (the smoke that thunders) and along the Zambezi River and the Zambezi National Park. Passengers are treated to an unforgettable helicopter journey comprising of 4 circuits (2 on either side) offering unrivalled spectacular views, photographic, and filming opportunities and putting the full breadth and height of The Falls into glorious perspective within the surrounding environment.
    Finally you get to finish to day off with a stunning Sun downer cruising the Zambesi river as the sun sets and cold beverage relaxes you as the wildlife of the river show themselves.

  • Day 4 : Whitewater Rafting the Mighty Zambesi.

    As the river levels drop off the rapid intensity grows and low water rafting season kicks off. The flag ship rafting adventure – low water season takes you from rapid #1 through to rapid #19, many of which are graded 5, the best white water rapids in the world. Begin your adrenalin run in the boiling pot directly below the Victoria Falls and hammer your way through infamous rapids, whose names were conjured to instil fear and trepidation into would-be rafters, “The Overland Truck-eater”, “The Mother”, “Gnashing Jaws of Death” and the final biggy of the day “Oblivion”. Our experienced guides will steer you on an unforgettable ride through the formidable rapids of the mighty Zambezi.

  • Day 5 : Chobe National Park Game Viewing

    A full day Safari package comprising a Cruise on the Chobe River and a Game Drive in the world famous Chobe National Park. Only an hour’s drive from Victoria Falls, the Chobe National Park in Botswana is home to one of the largest game concentrations in Africa. Bordered by the banks of the breath-taking Chobe River, it is famous for its rich elephant and lion population. The tour departs daily from Victoria Falls where guests are transferred by road for 70km to the border where their Botswana guide will meet them after immigration procedures.

  • Day 6 : Adrenaline Day Livingstone Island and Devils Pool Experience. You’re Choice of a Bungy Jump, Brid

    After breakfast you will take a 7:30am guided tour of Livingston Island and Devil’s Pool. Victoria Falls is one of the world’s natural wonders and among the most spectacular sights in all of Africa. The best vantage point from where to witness this immense mass of water is Livingstone Island, the place where Dr David Livingstone first glimpsed Mosi-oa-Tunya (The Smoke That Thunders).

    This tour takes you by boat that will take you through the fast-moving channels of the Zambezi, a thrilling journey.

    On the island you will be given a guided tour, learning about its history from ancient times when it served as a sacrificial site to the present day and its World Heritage status.If you’re looking to flirt with the wild side, swimin one of world’s most fascinating pools of water, Devil’s Pool, can be experienced during your guided tour of Livingstone Island. This isn’t your ordinary swim in an infinity pool, but a daring dip on the very edge of the Victoria Falls. Brave swimmers will get to experience the ultimate thrill of peering over the brim of the largest curtain of falling water.

    Did you know… guided tours to Livingstone Island have a 100% safety record? It is illegal to visit the Island with a private guide or on your own.

    Your Devil’s Pool experience ends around 9:30am and now it’s time for one last rush. Your choice of a Bungy Jump, Bridge Swing or Bridge Slide from Victoria Falls Bridge. The Bungy Jump or Swing is for the serious adrenaline junky, however the Bridge Slide is for anyone who likes a more controlled but still exciting rush.

    On return at around 11am, check out and transfer to Victoria Falls airport heading back to Johannesburg and your connecting flight on to your next adventure in East Africa and the Mountain Gorillas. Your flight arrives in Johannesburg at around 3pm and your connecting flight to Kigali, Rwanda goes via Kenya and leaves at 5:15pm and arrives in Kigali shortly after midnight.

  • Day 7 : Arrival in Kigali – City Tour - Transfer to Goma, Dr Congo

    Welcome to Kigali, Rwanda! Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport in the early morning, you will be warmly welcomed at arrivals by a representative of African Unique Safaris and Tours and your driver guide. Have a coffee and breakfast over your tour briefing and then head of for a Kigali City Tour including a memorable and moving Kigali Genocide Memorial tour. Late morning head off for the Rwanda/DR Congo border with our driver guide who will assist you across the border to meet our DR Congo driver guide on the other side. They will take you to your accommodation on Lake Kivu, Goma where you can check in at your hotel.

  • Day 8 : Mountain Gorilla Trek in Virunga National Park

    After an early breakfast depart to the starting point for your Gorilla tracking experience.

    After completing the park customs, we embark on a once in a life time experience of tracking mountain gorillas. These massive primates are extremely rare, with less than 900 living today. You will get within meters of the family, and be privileged to spend an hour among them. A visit with a mountain gorilla family is a life changing experience. Mountain gorillas are highly intelligent, good natured, and fascinating to observe. The silverback’s powerful presence is awe-inspiring, yet his calm clearly earns him the title, “gentle giant”. People are equally struck by the tenderness and care that mothers show their young. And then, of course, there are the juveniles who spend most of every waking hour at play and never cease to make visitors smile.

  • Day 9 : Mount Nyiragongo Tour - Ascent

    After an early breakfast; today is real adventure where you spend a day hiking the live volcano Nyiragongo.The trek includes a walk through lush forest and lava fields with a steep incline near the top, and includes an overnight stay in the Nyiragongo Crater Cabanas on the volcano rim. The stunning views both day and night make this an unforgettable experience.

  • Day 10 : Mount Nyiragongo Descent and Transfer to Musanze, Rwanda

    After early breakfast you descend down mount Nyiragongo which will finish around 11 am and your driver guide will take you to the border, help you check out and lead you to your guide on the side of Rwanda. Lunch in Gisenyi and later transfer to Musanze at the base of the amazing Volcanoes National Park, Check in at the Hotel, refresh and relax.   • Day 11 : Golden Monkey Trek and Transfer to Kigali

    After early breakfast, you will proceed to the park headquarters for briefing about your Trek and later embark on the adventure to golden monkeys. A fully habituated group of the beautiful primates’ lives in the park and this is one of the only places in Africa where you can find such close and friendly Golden Monkeys. Return to your lodge for lunch and refreshment, you will check out and your drive guide will transfer you to kigali, en route you will have to review the amazing country, the land of thousand hills.

  • Day 12 : Kigali to Akagera National Park

    This morning will take your first coffee and then transfer to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only Savannah Game Viewing Park. We should have time for a short game drive. Look out for Giraffes, Zebras, Water Buffalo, Waterbuck, Baboons and much more.

    Dominated scenically by the labyrinth of swamps and lakes that follow the meandering course of the Akagera River, the most remote source of the Nile, this is archetypal Africa’s savannah landscape of tangled acacia woodland interspersed with open grassland. Akagera is, above all, famed for its hosting of big game and birds.

  • Day 13 : Akagera National Park Boat Launch Cruise – Trasnfer Back to Kigali Early in the Morning After Bre

    Early in the morning after breakfast, you will check out from the lodge and go for a morning boat cruise, which allows you to view a variety of bird’s species, crocodile, and hippos. Later proceed to Northern circuit game drive to search for animals that you may have missed out in the previous game drive, lunch en route. It is not a guarantee that all the animals can be seen in the evening game drive there are some that are early risers and can only be seen in the morning. In the after transfer back to Kigali check in and refresh from your hotel.

  • Day 14 : Kigali City Tour and Departure

    Early morning after breakfast, you will check out from your hotel and be transferred to your 9am flight from Kigali to Kilimajaro International Airport, Tanzania.

    On arrival in Kilimanjaro International airport you will be transferred to Arusha town. Overnight at Venus Hotel on bed and basis.

  • Day 15 : Arusha to Tarangire National Park: 12kms/2hrs Drive

    After breakfast depart for Tarangire, Tanzania’s third largest national park and sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population for game drive, with picnic lunch. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lions, leopards, and cheetahs and up to six thousand elephants. In the afternoon, you will continue to Sanguine Tented Lodge for dinner and overnight on full board basis.

  • Day 16 : Tarangire to Manyara National Park: 75kms/1.5hrs Drive After Breakfast Depart with Picnic

    After breakfast depart with picnic boxes to Lake Manyara national park for game drive. In this small but very beautiful park with dense forest you will have opportunity to see lots of monkeys, giraffes, elephants, impalas, dikdik, flamingos in the lake and if you are lucky you may spot the rare tree climbing lions.

  • Day 17 : Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park (central):205kms/4.5hrs Drive

    After breakfast you will drive to Central Serengeti for game drive with picnic lunch. In this area of the park you will have opportunity to see big prides of lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, giraffes, elephants, different antelopes and other wildlife. In the late afternoon you will drive to your camp for dinner and overnight.

  • Day 18 : Serengeti National Park (central)

    After breakfast you will depart with picnic boxes for a full day of game viewing in Serengeti national park. In this area of the park you will have opportunity to see big prides of lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, giraffes, elephants, different antelopes and other wildlife. In the late afternoon you will drive to your campfor dinner and overnight.

  • Day 19 : Serengetito Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu: 170kms/hrs Drive

    After an early breakfast, depart with picnic lunch and drive to Ngorongoro Crater for a full day of game drive. The crater has a good number of lions and cheetahs, and it is another good place to see the rare black rhino.

  • Day 20 : Karatu to Kilimanjaro International Airport: 220kms/3.5hrs Drive

    After breakfast depart with picnic boxes and drive to Kilimanjaro Airport for your flight home as per your flight details. Those staying on to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro will be transferred back to Venus Hotel, Arusha.
