  • Day 1 : Arrival in Sri Lanka – Negombo

    Upon arrival at the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be warmly received by our representative from Experior Travels. Your journey of exploration has just begun. You will be escorted to your vehicle and transferred to Negombo, the starting point of your leisurely vacation of exploration and delight.

    Negombo, the fourth largest city in the Island, is also known as “Little Rome” for its splendour and the numerous churches scattered around the city. Historically, it was one of the main trade ports as its natural lagoon offered safe shelter to trading vessels from Arabia in centuries gone by.

You might want to consider an adventurous elephant safari at Habarana or a safari at Minneriya National Park when you visit Polonnaruwa.

  • Day 6 : Habarana – Anuradhapura

    Today you will travel to Anuradhapura – an ancient capital of Sri Lanka. Ancient writings record that it has been the official capital from the 4thcentury BC – 11th century AD. However archeological data shows the city existed from way back as 10th century BC. Today Anuradhapura with its oldest ruins and monuments has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and draws visitors from all over the globe.

    Sri Maha Bodiya – A Sacred Fig Tree in Anuradhapura planted in 288 BC
    Ruwanwelisaya – Built by King Dutugemunu in 140 BC
    Thuparamaya – The 1st Stupa built in Sri Lanka by King Devanampiya Tissa

    Today you will travel to Jaffna, a city which was a favourite of the Dutch and Portuguese in the colonial period. Jaffna is enriched with a unique culture with even the Tamil dialect being unique to the peninsular. Jaffna has suffered the ravages of war and is today mostly visited, particularly by locals, to review war ruins, to reflect and re-unite with the people of Jaffna. What would tempt a traveller most, apart from the stunning terrain, splendid scenery and cultural heritage is the exotic indigenous cuisine which is unique to Jaffna.

Trincomalee is a proud city with its legendary Koneshwaram temple and the legacy of colonialism and their forts still displaying its grandeur.

    Beyond all this, the waters off Trincomalee have been designated as the hot spot for whales. Indeed the Indian Ocean has been declared a Sanctuary for Whales for all time, through the efforts of IOMAC Sri Lanka. Famed cetalogist Roger Payne said t you have to go to Sri Lanka if you want to see the whale! The film “Whales Weep Not” filmed in the waters of Trincomalee inspires conservation and sustainable tourism of these amazing cetaceans.

The Royal Palace, now known as the “The Temple of the Tooth Relic” (of Lord Buddha), situated right beside the Kandy lake lends a magical beauty to the city. Kandy is also home to one of the largest botanical gardens in South East Asia. The Gardens dates back to the 14th century and boasts over 4000 species of plants and many trees with significant histories. Visitors from the UK will be particularly interested in the Cannonball Tree planted by King George V. The tree is bent with its fruits, which resemble cannonballs hence the name.
