    Early Birding at Mamamba Village Set off as early as 6am. The 10 minutes ride will also provide some water species such as the Pied Kingfishers, Egrets and Cormorants are common sightings. Then set out driving along dirt roads, going past cultivated lands and bush lands, and reach Mabamba within 20 minutes. We shall record some species on the fringes before going out in a motorized dugout canoe into the dense papyrus to look for the Shoebill and other papyrus specialists such as the Papyrus Gonolek, Swamp Flycatcher, and White-winged Swamp Warbler. Then drive away to the nearby Mpanga Forest. Bird the forest edge and near before getting into the forest.     Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and Boat Today you will have a chance to have a game drive as well as a boat-ride on L. Mburo giving us a chance to see animals like buffalos, water and bush bucks, zebras, leopard, mongoose, Topi, warthogs and Impalas. We will have a chance of seeing birds like the African Finfoot, a very shy bird, white-backed night heron, plus other water birds as well as animals like crocodiles and hippos. The more open grassland north of the camp, particularly along the Zebra Track, is worth exploring for species such as Coqui Francolin, Red-necked Spur fowl, Black-bellied Bustard, Temminck’s Courser, African Wattled Plover, Rufous-Naped and lapped Larks, Rufous-chested Swallow, Yellow-throated Longclaw and Southern Red Bishop.     Birding tour In Mgahinga National Park Mgahinga national park is home to over 180 bird species recorded including some Albertine rift endemics. This park with beautiful vegetation will reward you with more than birding. You shall traverse a variety of montane habitats along the excellent Gorge trail as you bird your way in the bird. This is the smallest national park in Uganda and was predominately protected to conserve the mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.     Gorilla Trekking In Bwindi Forest After an early breakfast depart to the starting point for briefing about your gorilla trekking adventure after which you will be led by experienced gorilla trackers on the slopes of the volcanoes. You will start from the site where the gorillas were encountered the day before and from here the gorilla tracking begins. Although the hike can be physically demanding, the anticipation of the exciting experience ahead is amazing, and the beauty of the gorilla forest and its inhabitants are fascinating. One of Africa’s major highlights is when you encounter these gentle apes. It is a humbling experience to stand just meters from man’s distant cousins as they eat rest, play and bond with their young ones.     Birding Mubwindi Swamp Trail Today prepare to bird the entire day in Ruhija sector of Bwindi impenetrable national park – Mubwindi swamp trail. Birds in Ruhija are generally easy to see but the area is also considerably steep with lots of hiking even as you search for the birds.     Birding tour in Buhoma After breakfast, you will move to the forest to start your birding activity. Bwindi Impenetrable Conservation Area lies in the rugged Kigezi highlands of South Western Uganda, protecting a continuum of forest that ranges from montane to low land areas. It is this altitudinal variation, combined with its location within the Albertine Rift that results in Bwindi impenetrable being the richest forest in East Africa in terms of its trees, butterflies and birds. Bwindi is a home to 360 Gorillas a half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas.

    Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha Sector -Boat Cruise After breakfast proceed to Queen Elizabeth NP, frequently stopping for birding along the way. Going through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth will give us a chance of seeing the Tree-climbing lions. Depending on time of arrival, some late afternoon birding might produce views of the African Morning Dove, Grey-headed Kingfisher, Black-headed Gonolek, Slender-billed, Yellow-backed and Lesser-masked Weavers, Pin-tailed Whydah and Black-winged Pratincole. Take a boat launch cruise on Kazinga Channel which is a natural magnet for herds of Elephant, Giant Forest Hog, Buffalo, Monitor lizard, Crocodiles and the abundant Hippopotamus.   • Day 12 : The best Africa birding safari destination-Uganda

    Birding and Bat Cave Visit After an early breakfast go for bird watching and a game drive in the park towards the Kasenyi trail. The game drive takes us through a productive area of grassy plains, which support large flocks of a variety of stork species including the Spectacular Saddle-billed and Woolly necked Storks. Other species include the Bateleur, Grey Kestrel, Lappet-faced, Ruppell’s Griffon, White-backed and Palm-nut Vultures, African Crake, Black Coucal, Common Button, Harlequin and Black-rumped Quails, Red-necked Spurfowl, Rufous-naped and Flappet Larks. After lunch, transfer to Maramagambo for Bat Cave Visit Predators and Prey co-exist in the Batcave of Maramagambo forest. Snakes live with bats, a rare sight in any ecosystem. Forest Birds are found here in abundance and you will find this the perfect place to spot a variety of species including some rarities such as the White Naped Pigeons, Forest Flycatchers, and the Rwenzori Turaco to name a few.

  • Day 13 : The best Africa birding safari destination-Uganda

    Transfer to Kibale Forest After breakfast, do a morning game drive as you get out of Queen Elizabeth National Park as you proceed to Kibale Forest National Park Kibale Forest National Park protects a diverse array of primates, from the minuscule, nocturnal Demidoff’s Galago to our closest living relative, the Chimpanzee. Here we will take expeditions to observe the Chimps and many other species of primates and birds. We have a chance of birding the main road or one of the trails in the forest. We might come across the African Emerald Cuckoo, Purple-headed Starling, Black-billed Turacco, Yellow-billed Barbet, Grey-throated Barbet, Blue-throated Roller, Narrow-tailed Starling, Western Black-headed Oriole, Yellow-throated and Yellow-rumped Tinkerbirds.

  • Day 14 : The best Africa birding safari destination-Uganda

    Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi swamp Walk The next day, we wake up very early and assemble for briefing prior to Chimpanzee Tracking and thereafter enter the forest to look for our cousins, the Chimps. The activity takes 1 to 5 hours. In the afternoon, we go bird watching in Bigodi Wetland to look for the stunning Green-breasted Pitta, Fire-crested Alethe, Scaly-breasted Illadopsis, colourful butterflies and other species of primates. After lunch set off for Bigodi swamp walk. Bigodi was established by a local development organization to protect the 4sq-km Magombe Swamp that’s home to around 200 species of birds (highlights include papyrus gonolek, white-winged warbler and great blue turaco). The highlight of this tour is catching a glimpse of the great blue turaco. The swamp is also good for spotting butterflies and primates, with 8 different species here, including grey-cheeked mangabey. The 2-3 hour guided walk is led by experienced local guides who interact with the guests and make the trip both enjoyable and exciting.

    Birding Kirumia Trail and Hot Springs In Semuliki After Breakfast, you will be transferred to Semuliki Forest. Semuliki forest is a continuation of Congo’s ituri forest and some of the species we will look out for include the; Congo Serpent Eagle, Grey-throated Rail, Nkulengu Rail, Long-tailed Hawk, Spot-breasted Ibis, Yellow-throated Nicator, Northern Red-chested Owlet, Western Bronze-naped Pigeon, Black-collared Lovebird, White-bellied Kingfisher, Red-rumped Tinkerbird, Lyre-tailed Honeyguide, Zenker’s Honeyguide, White-throated Blue Swallow, Bate’s Nightjar, Yellow-throated Cuckoo, Orange-tufted Sunbird, Black-winged Oriole, Lemon-bellied Crombec, Rufous-sided Broadbill, Icterine Greenbul, Swamp Palm Bulbul, Crested and Blue-billed Malimbes, Fiery-breasted Bush-shrike, Pale-fronted Negrofinch, Piping, Red-billedWhite-crested, Black-casqued, Wattled and White-thighed Hornbills.   • Day 16 : The best Africa birding safari destination-Uganda

    Boat Cruise on Lake Albert and Transfer to Budongo After an early breakfast, you will go on the boat cruise in search for the shoebill and also other water species Boat excursions on Lake Albert reward with plenty of wildlife and nice scenery. Hippos and several bird species can be sighted during the excursion. You will go in search for Shoebill and see other water species. After the search for the shoebill and other species, you will proceed towards Budongo Forest Reserve in Masindi. This is a rather longer drive but there are a few birding spots along the way. Specialties in Budongo Forest include among others; Sabine’s spine tail, Cassin’s Spine-tail(rare), Pygmy Crake, Kingfishers (Chocolate-backed, Blue-breasted, African Dwarf), White-spotted Fluff tail, Ituri Batis, Puvell’s Illadopsis, Brown Twin-spot, Cameroon Somber Greenbul, Cassin’s Hawk-Eagle, Crowned Eagle, Yellow-crested Woodpecker, Forest Robin, Little Green Sunbird, Grey-headed Sunbird, Olive Green Camaroptera. Arrive late in the evening at your hotel.

    Birding in Budongo Forest We will be at Budongo’s famous Royal Mile by early morning – a wide forestry track considered by many to be the country’s premier forest birding locality. This is the best place in Uganda for Nahan’s Francolin, Cassin’s Spinetail, and Chestnut-capped Flycatcher. We will find many confusing forest greenbuls to test us, including Spotted, Xavier’s, White-throated, Red-tailed & Honeyguide Greenbuls. Canopy flocks support Yellow-mantled Weaver, Rufous Thrush and Uganda Woodland-Warbler. Undergrowth alongside the track holds numerous skulkers including Scaly-breasted, Brown & Pale-breasted Illadopses, Fire-crested Alethe, Blue-shouldered Robin-Chat, Rufous Flycatcher-Thrush, Red-tailed Ant-Thrus. We will keep an eye on any openings in the forest canopy as Cassin’s and Crowned Hawk-eagles, Cassin’s and Sabine’s spinetails, and White-throated Bee-eater are all possible. In the afternoon, we transfer to the Busingiro section of the forest for yet another awesome bird-watching session.

    Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park After breakfast, set off for a game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. You may have chances of finding the world’s most peculiar bird, the Shoebill. We will also explore the park’s broad-leaved woodland, dry grasslands, and forests, including nocturnal expeditions to find the unrivaled Standard-winged Nightjar. There are chances of seeing animals like; Giraffes, Elephants, kobs, Oribi, Elephants etc. Birds -Shoebill, Secretary Bird, Abyssinian Roller and Ground Hornbill, Pied Kingfishers, Red-throated Bee-eaters, Goliath Heron, Saddle-billed Stork, Sacred Ibis, Fulvous Whistling-Duck, Senegal Thick-knee, Water Thick-knee, Black-headed Lapwing, Long-toed Lapwing, Little Bittern, Osprey, Red-necked Falcon, Blue-breasted Bee-eater, Vinaceous Dove and Grosbeak Weaver.   • Day 19 : The best Africa birding safari destination-Uganda

    Game Drive and Boat Cruise After breakfast you will go for a morning game drive for the birding session. After lunch, go for a boat cruise upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just few of meters from the ‘Devil’s Cauldron’, marvel at the schools of hippos, crocodiles and over the 17km stretch you may see elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob. This is also the zone of many birds, species like goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. After taking shorts of the photogenic Murchison Falls, you may choose to continue to hike the top of the falls, where you will have the amazing view of the falls! See where the Nile -world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. Later, return to your lodge and relax in the evening.

    Delta-Birding Arise very early in the morning for your Delta cruise on the northern bank of the River Nile. The delta cruise is a paradise for bird lovers- This is a great cruise for people who love birds. You will have a chance to see a great many different birds -pelicans, bee eaters, giant king fishers, Shue horn (Rare but if lucky you will see various types of stork than what that you see in the national park on a game drive if lucky. You also get to see buffalo, hippos, and a variety of other land animals on the cruise. Sometimes the animals come that close to you.
