You can have free day(s) depending how long you want to stay amongst the rainforest or in historic Cooktown. Accommodation of your choice, lunch day 1 and 2 and key highlights are included. Day 1 : Cairns – Port Douglas – Cape Tribulation
In the morning, you will be collected from your accommodation by our travel partner Billy Tea Bush Safaris. Travel north along the scenic route to Mossman, lush farmland contrasts with seascape as we approach the majestic Daintree River.Enjoy a short morning tea break, then its ‘all aboard’ for an informative one hour river cruise. Relax and enjoy the splendor only the Daintree can offer as you learn of Estuarine Crocodiles, mangrove forests and wildlife, this is nature at its best.
Ascending the Alexandra Range, we pause for a panoramic view of World Heritage Tropical Rainforest merging with the azure colours of the Coral Sea. Experience the rainforest intimately on our elevated National Park Boardwalk. Accurate interpretations of flora and fauna will be given with ample time for photographs and questions as we search for the elusive, rare and totally unique Southern Cassowary and other wildlife species within this particular habitat.
A delicious barbecue lunch with freshly prepared salads is served while you have the opportunity to hand feed a kangaroo and enjoy a cold drink from the bar. Our tour does a little more. It takes us beyond Cape Tribulation along the 4WD Bloomfield Track to pristine Emmagen Creek and time for a refreshing rainforest stream swim.
As you seek fish and turtles in this wonderful Rainforest creek, butterflies and exotic birds in the trees and indulge in a feast of exotic tropical fruits, and enjoy sample a cup of traditional Billy Tea, made in a traditional Australian Billy, all of which enhance the tranquil surroundings
Transfer to your overnight accommodation in Cape Trib Beach where you have the remainder of the day and evening at your leisure.
Day 2 : Cape Tribulation – Cooktown
This morning you will be collected from your accommodation by Adventure North Australia where your journey will continue to Cooktown – The Last Frontier of North Queensland. The 4WD only Bloomfield Track allows you to travel through the heart of this World Heritage Listed area providing incredible glimpses of Australia hard to imagine.Travel over rugged mountain ranges, river crossings, spot crocodiles and other Australian wildlife and fauna.
Visit the Bana Yirriji Art and Cultural Centre, Wujal Wujal, (subject to opening times by the centre) which is located on the banks of the Bloomfield River with an opportunity to visit and talk with local Indigenous artists.
Enjoy lunch at Blooms Café, Ayton before continuing north to visit the infamous and quirky Lion’s Den Hotel one of Queensland’s landmark pubs, built in 1875 made of timber and iron. A short distance sees the unique geological oddity, which is Black Mountain. Ascend Grassy Hill for the spectacular panoramic views of the Endeavour River, Coral Sea and Cooktown. Have your camera ready! Transfer to your overnight accommodation in Cooktown, with the afternoon and evening at your leisure.

Experience the Endeavor River at the most beautiful time of day with River Bend Tours. Explore the harbour in the long afternoon light before heading upstream to watch the sunset over the distant ranges. While navigating the maze way of smaller creeks, we will serve a complimentary gourmet cheese platter. After dark, spotlights add a whole new perspective to the impenetrable walls of mangrove trees that line the river. Listen to stories about Camptain Cook’s infamous passage along the Cape as well as the glory days of the gold rush when Cooktown was the gateway to the frontier. This sunset cruise is a fantastic way to end your day.
Day 3 : Cooktown – Port Douglas – Cairns
Enjoy a free day to explore Cooktown. Take this time to visit the World Class James Cook Museum and admire the landmarks as you stroll along the shores of the Endeavour River. Click here for more information about what to see and do during your free day in Cooktown.
The unique charm and historic atmosphere of the main street still prevails. You can experience the unspoilt beauty of the area, which remains much the same as when Captain Cook knew it in 1770. Late this afternoon we depart Cooktown via the inland road, the Mulligan Highway, travelling through a diverse landscape of cattle stations and the Palmer River gold mine region, which is the outback of Far North Queensland. Stop for a meal break (at your own expense) before your tour concludes returning to your accommodation in Port Douglas 8.00pm or Cairns approx 9.00pm.
