3 Day Eastern Lowland Gorilla Trek Package

Package Overview

With only an estimated 3-5000 Eastern Lowland Gorillas left on the planet this trek takes you to Kahuzi-Biega National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Starting in Kigali we drive you to the DR Congo border and stay overnight before we cross the border the next morning to trek the largest primate on the planet.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Pickup and Transfer to Emeraude Lake Kivu Resort, Rwanda

  You we be welcomed at your arrival point by an African Unique Safaris and Tours representative who will introduce you to your driver/guide and brief you on your tour. Then begin your 5-6 transfer to Emeraude Lake Kivu Resort on the Rwanda side of the DR Congo border.
  En-route take in some interesting Rwandan culture in Butare Town, Rwanda old cultural centre. The old Kings Palace and Museum are both very interesting.
  Dinner and overnight at Emeraude Lake Kivu Resort.
• Day 2 : Eastern Gorilla Trek

  After breakfast overlooking the traditional fisherman start their day on Lake Kivu, your driver/guide will take you on the 5 minute journey to the border and assist you across. The drive from the border to Kahuzi-Biega park headquarters take around 1 hour where you will be briefed by park rangers on Gorilla Behavior, language and history. Then you head out on your trek to one of two habituated groups. The trek can take 2-6 depending on the movements of these large animals. Once you locate your family then you get to spend an hour in the presence of these incredible creatures, often described as on of the planets most profound natural animal encounters. After your trek your driver/guide will take you back over the border and back to Emeraude Lake Kivu Resort for dinner and overnight.
• Day 3 : Transfer Back to Kigali, Rwanda Via Huye Mountain Coffee Tour

  After breakfast we drive a couple of hours to Huye Mountain Coffee. Here there’s a fantastic 3 hour coffee tour which cover the below:

  After take the final 3 hour leg back to Kigali where we take you to the airport or your next destination, wish you fond farewell and safe travels as you marvel at your rare Eastern Gorilla encounter.
