Day 1 : Arusha – Serengeti
After breakfast, you will be picked up by one of our driver at around 0700am and proceed to the lush crater uplands, where the fertile soil allows crops such as wheat, corn, and coffee to grow. You will have lunch at a picnic spot before you slowly drive towards the Ngorongoro Crater. On the way, you will pass the Olduvai Gorge where the English couple, Louis and Mary Leak, pioneered archaeological excavation work. In the sixties, some of the earliest archaeological deposits of human evolution were found here and a small museum (visit optional) reports these discoveries. The name “Serengeti” origins from the Masai word “Siringitu” and means “endless plains”. You can see why the Masai gave this region this name as the grassland Savannah stretches to the horizon in the South and is only interrupted by the so-called Kopjes (inselbergsIn the afternoon, The park contains vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and other antelopes. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Lodge or camp
Day 2 : Full Day Serengeti Park
Breakfast at around 0800am. Proceed with morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti with a lunch and leisure break at the lodge in the mid afternoon. The term Serengeti means endless plains in Masai language. In the central plains there are carnivores like leopard, lion, hyena and cheetah. This park is normally the scene of the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra that occurs between the Kenyan Mara and the Serengeti. Varied bird species can be seen here including eagles, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, herons, kites, pelicans, cranes and guinea fowl. The Serengeti National park is a arguably the best known wildlife sanctuary in the world with over 3 million large mammals. About 35 species of plains animals can be seen there including the “big 5” - Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Leopard and Buffalo. Other common species found here includes hippo, giraffe, eland, impala and other antelope types, baboons, monkey and a profusion of over 500 species of birds. In May or early June, huge herds of wildebeest, gazelle and zebra begin their annual spectacular migration northwards. In their wake follow predators, lion, cheetah and wild dogs with vultures circling overhead! Come back to the Lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 : Serengeti - Arusha
Wake up call at 0600am, have just a cup of hot coffee then proceed for the early morning game drive, this morning game drive is very important as you will be able to witness the early morning kills from the big five. After the game drive drive back to the Lodge at 0930am for the main breakfast, there after check out the Lodge or camp and proceed for the last game drive as you head back to Arusha. Arrive in Arusha late afternoon with a drop off to the Hotel of your choice or back to the airport depending with your flight time.
