Package Overview

Sundarbans National Park is the largest estuarine mangrove forest in the world. It is located 130 km east from the city of Kolkata in the Indian state of West Bengal. The forest is located on the delta formed by the convergence of the mighty Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers and covers a total area of 9630 sq. kms. The terrain comprises mainly of mangrove swamps and estuaries.

Sundarbans National Park derives its name from the mangrove tree “Sundari” (Heritiera fomes) that provides valuable fuel to the inhabitants of the area. The park was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985 due to its rich biodiversity and for being home to the largest Tiger reserves in the world. In 1984, Sundarbans was given the status of National Park. Prior to that, it was declared as a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1977. It was designated as the core area of the Sundarbans Tiger Reserve in December, 1973. The mangrove forest is home to a variety of flora and fauna, the most popular one being the Royal Bengal Tiger.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : SONAKHALI TO PAKHIRALAY BY BUS

  .Bus will start for Sonakhali
  (Canning) sharp at 08:00 A.M. Breakfast will be given
  on the way. Reach Sonakhali at around 11:30 A.M.
  Board launch and start for Pakhiralay. Lunch will be
  served on the launch. On the way visit Hamilton’s
  Bunglow at Gosaba. Reach Pakhiralay at around 06:00
  P.M. and check in Hotel Sreya and night stay.

• Day 2 : Sudhnyakhali Watch tower Khalishakhali Sunderkhali, Pirkhali, Nu-Banki.

  After breakfast visit Sudhnyakhali Watch tower. After
  that will start for different creeks like Khalishakhali,
  Sunderkhali, Pirkhali, Nu-Banki. Followed by Do-Banki
  Watch Tower and Sajnekhali Watch Tower Lunch will be
  served on the launch. Back to Pakhiralay and Night stay
  at Hotel Sreya.In the evening will observe local Tribal
  folk show “ Bonbibi yatra pala”

• Day 3 : Bhagaban Bhorani,JharkhaliTiger rescue center and Watch tower

  After breakfast visit Bhagaban Bhorani,JharkhaliTiger
  rescue center and Watch tower. Lunch will be served on
  the way. Return to Sonakhali (Canning) in the evening.
  Start for Kolkata by bus.
