Gangotri

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Gangotri (3,415M to Bhojwasa (3,775M) - 13 kms

  After breakfast, Today's journey takes us from Chirbasa to Bhojwasa, covering a distance of 5 kilometers. Bhojwasa, translating to "home of birch trees" locally, offers panoramic views of the impressive Bhagirathi range. The landscape undergoes a dramatic transformation as the trail transitions to a more barren and desolate terrain. With a significant portion of the distance covered the previous day, today's trek is less strenuous, with the expectation of reaching the riverside campsite by lunchtime to witness the captivating sunset over the Bhagirathi range.

• Day 2 : Bhojwasa (3,775M) to Tapovan (4,460M) via Gomukh (4,025M) - 14 kms Trek

  Today marks a pivotal stage of the journey. After breakfast, we embark on the trek to Tapovan via Gomukh, covering a distance of 14 kilometers. Gomukh, translating to "mouth of the cow," serves as the source of the Ganges and offers a surreal landscape to explore. The trail leads through moraine-rich glaciers, with the scenery gradually unfolding as we ascend towards Tapovan. Known for its breathtaking alpine meadows encircling the base of Shivling Peak, Tapovan is a serene campsite adorned with wildflowers and frequented by herds of Bharal. Here, amidst nature's splendor, we can engage in periods of meditation before setting up camp for the night.

  We retrace our steps back to Bhojwasa, covering a distance of 6 kilometers, as we bid farewell to the tranquil ambiance of Tapovan.

  Today's descent takes us directly from Bhojwasa to Gangotri, spanning a distance of 14 kilometers, bypassing Chirbasa along the way.
