Day 1 : Arrival
You will be met at Nairobi Airport by your guide and introduced to the wildlife of Kenya with a visit to the Giraffe Centre. Founded to save the endangered Rothschild Giraffe from extinction, this centre plays an important role in educating Kenyan school children on the country's wildlife and environment. It also allows visitors to come into close contact with the world's tallest species, including the opportunity to feed a gorgeous giraffe.
We continue to Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage (open from 11 to 12 noon). It took Daphne Sheldrick 28 years of trial and error to perfect the milk formula and complex husbandry required to rear orphaned African elephants, during the period that her husband was warden of Kenya's largest elephant sanctuary in Tsavo East National Park. Since then this sanctuary has gone on to save the lives of many orphaned elephant calves.
Afterwards enjoy a game drive in Nairobi National Park. This was the first national park created in Kenya and, despite its relatively small size and close proximity to the skyscrapers of the city, it boasts a large and varied wildlife population. Animals migrate to this park during the dry season, as it offers them a permanent source of water. You can hope to see lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino - but not elephant as the park is not large enough to sustain them. You can also see giraffe, zebra, eland, impala, Grant's gazelle, Thomson's gazelle, warthog and ostrich in the woodlands and open plains, and hippo in the Mbagathi Athi River which is lined with fever and acacia trees. The park also has a very successful rhino sanctuary. A picnic lunch is included today.
Day 2 : Masai Mara
Transfer to Wilson Airport in Nairobi for your light aircraft flight to the Masai Mara, named after the Masai people and the Mara River that divides the park.
Masai Mara National Park is famous for its exceptional population of game and the annual migration of zebra and wildebeest from the adjoining Serengeti National Park. This phenomenon occurs every year from July to October, when game migrates along a circular route from the plains of the Serengeti to the Masai Mara and back again in search of fresh pastures, followed by hungry predators - most notably lions and hyena.
After checking in to your lodge, enjoy a late afternoon game drive.
Day 3 : Masai Mara
Today is dedicated to game viewing on the open plains of the world famous Masai Mara conservancy region.
Nestled within the enormous Great Rift Valley, the Masai Mara is famous for its many prides of lions, packs of hyena and other predators - as well as huge herds of wildebeest, which number over one million, zebra and giraffe. All the Big Five can be seen here, as well as numerous other species including the Thomson's gazelle, topi, kongoni, impala, roan antelope and hippo. The nocturnal bat-eared fox, rarely found elsewhere in Kenya, also inhabits this park as well as the endangered cheetah and black rhino. Bird watching is also excellent with over 450 different species including the vulture, marabou stork, secretary bird, hornbill, crowned crane, ostrich, long-crested eagle and African pygmy-falcon.
Set off early each morning, when game viewing conditions are at their best, to view the abundant wildlife of this region. Return to the lodge to rest in the heat of the day, before setting off again in the late afternoon for another game drive.
Note: If your lodge is in a private conservancy, you will need to pay locally (approx $80 pp) for any game drive that enters the Masai Mara National Reserve. As wildlife ranges freely between the surrounding conservancies & the national park, without any fences, this is only necessary during the migration season.

Day 5 : Nairobi
After a final early morning game drive, transfer to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Nairobi.
You will be met at Wilson Airport and transferred to your hotel conveniently situated near the international airport.
Day 6 : Chobe National Park
Take the free hotel shuttle to Nairobi Airport for your onward flight.
You will be met at Victoria Falls Airport and driven 2-hours on a shared transfer to the Botswana border at Kasane. After completing immigration formalities, continue to your game lodge near the Chobe River.
Chobe National Park is Botswana’s premier wildlife reserve and is uniquely situated at the confluence of the Zambezi and Chobe Rivers, where four African countries meet – Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
After checking in to your lodge, enjoy a boat ride on the Chobe River, which is home to some of Botswana’s most spectacular wildlife, as well as abundant bird life. Game viewing opportunities should present themselves almost immediately in this vast game sanctuary and hopefully you will see elephant, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, antelope and other river-based wildlife today. Afterwards dine in the atmosphere that only the African bushveld can provide.
Day 7 : Chobe National Park
Rise at dawn to take advantage of the best game viewing conditions of the day and enjoy a thrilling open-top game viewing drive with a lodge ranger.
Chobe National Park is home to vast herds of buffalo and elephant, as well as numerous other species which roam in profusion and diversity. During the dry season, vast elephant herds migrate from both south and north to congregate in their thousands along the Chobe River – the largest concentration of elephants in the whole of Africa. Also hope to see lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, hippo, kudu, crocodiles, antelope, waterbuck, warthogs, baboons and many other interesting animals before returning to your lodge.
In the afternoon, enjoy another game-viewing boat ride on the Chobe River.
Day 8 : Kasane
Today transfer to Kasane on the Zimbabwe border.
After completing border formalities, connect with your 2-hour shared transfer to your hotel near Victoria Falls on the mighty Zambezi River.
Check in, settle in and relax whilst you catch your first glimpses of the magnificent Smoke That Thunders first discovered by Dr. David Livingstone and still one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. The flow of water over the Victoria Falls is greatest from February to June following the summer rains, but they are a magnificent sight at any time of year.
Day 9 : Victoria Falls
Today we recommend exploring on foot the mighty Victoria Falls and its rainforest, which offers magnificent views.
Afterwards you can participate in other optional activities such as a helicopter flight over the falls or an elephant interaction.
In the late afternoon we recommend an optional Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi River where you may see hippos, crocodiles and abundant bird life.
Note: We suggest you take your own raincoat for walking in the rainforest, as those on hire are well used.
Day 10 : Victoria Falls
At leisure to explore the small town of Victoria Falls on the banks of the Zambezi River.
Many optional activities are available - such canoeing in the gentler rapids above the falls, abseiling or white water rafting in the turbulent gorge below the falls (grade 5). You can also watch bungi jumping from Victoria Falls Bridge.
Day 11 : Nairobi

Arrive at Nairobi Airport and take the free shuttle transfer to your airport hotel.
Check in and relax in your warm and friendly African surroundings.
Day 12 : Stone Town
Take the free hotel shuttle to Nairobi Airport for your onward flight.
You will be met at Zanzibar Airport and taken on a walking tour of historic Stone Town.
This UNESCO World Heritage town is now part of the Republic of Tanzania, but it was formerly controlled by the Sultan of Oman. As such it was an important trading nation, selling spices and other commodities to Europe, the Middle East and Asia. It was also at the centre of the notorious slave trade out of East Africa.
This Muslim city is today rather neglected and not what it once was, but most people still enjoy walking through the narrow streets of the historic old city and slave market, where a cathedral now stands. The large wooden doors of the merchant's houses are of particular interest, as well as the works of local artists.
Afterwards transfer 1-hour to your beach hotel. Check in and relax in your wonderful surroundings on this exotic East African spice archipelago.
Day 13 : Zanzibar Archipelago
At leisure to relax on the warm golden Indian Ocean beaches of the Zanzibar Archipelago.
You can enjoy a traditional Arab dhow cruise, catamaran sailing, magnificent scuba diving or deep sea fishing. If you wish to explore the island further, day excursions include a Spice Island tour, a snorkelling trip to Prison Island where you can see giant tortoises, a visit to Josani Forest or to Kizimkazi where you can see dolphins.
