4-Day Tour To Barguzin Valley

Package Overview

This tour is a great opportunity to visit almost non-habitated places at Lake Baikal and valley surrounded by Barguzin snowy mountains. These places have many historical and natural sights to explore, including rocks of Suvo Saxony, Inn stone garden, hidden petroglyphs and mountain buddhist temple. You will also visit Sacred Nose peninsula, which is one of the most beautiful places of the lake.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrival

  Departure from Irkutsk
  Pick-up from any place in Irkutsk

  Breakfast at the cafe with view to Lake Baikal
  After 100 km we arrive at the lake. Here we see its southern corner and two parts of Transsiberian railway, it's place to learn a little (or more) from the history of its construction. After the breakfast we start our journey by the Great Baikal Road, going by the shore line of the lake.

  Visit to Sable Mountain viewpoint
  We come to the top of the mountain by chairlift (not included) and see a beautiful scenery from the top of the lookout point.

  Bird Ringing Station
  We arrive to the Baikal Protected National Park and first we visit the bird ringing station. We see some birds trapped into the the hands of scientists, doing counting and research of their population and migration. This is one of the oldest bird ringing stations in Russia.

  Tankhoy Sanctuary
  Arrival to Tankhoy sanctuary. We explore museum at the visitors center, located close to nature trail, and dedicated to the forest inhabitants.

  Tankhoy Nature Trail
  After we will have a relaxing walk by wooden nature trail for 4 kilometers exploring the taiga forest.

  Visit to Sable Sanctuary
  After the walk we visit sable enclosure, where we can see this cute animal, which is famous from the past by its expensive fur. Fortunately, these sable are protected now by the national park. Also we will see here some part of the historical Transsiberian line and Circum-Baikal Railway.

  Departure from Tankhoy
  After the walk we will head back to Ulan-Ude or Irkutsk, depending on your route. On the way back in summer we can make an optional stop at Warm Lakes, which name is pretty understandable, for swimming. Let us know before, if you need it!

  Arrival to Ulan-Ude, check-in at hotel.
• Day 2 : Ulan - Ude

  Departure from Ulan-Ude
  After breakfast we head to Barguzin valley!

  Arrival in Sretensky female monastery.
  The only female monastery in Burytia was founded in XIX century, now it's reopened again. Worth stop to see simple life of the village and nuns serving there.

  Arrival in Turka
  Stop in Turka town for a lunch. This town has Special Touristic Zone, which is now under construction. You can see lake promenade and lighthouse, but most of the sights are not constructed now.

  Arrival in Ust-Barguzin
  We arrive in Ust-Barguzin and head to Sacred Nose peninsula, Barguzin or Chivirkuysky Bay for overnight stay at Zabaikalsy National Park, then free time. Dinner at guesthouse (included).
• Day 3 : Barguzin Valley

  Breakfast. Start of tour to Barguzin valley.
  After the breakfast we will start our tour to Barguzin valley.

  Arrival in Barguzin village
  We arrive to Barguzin and explore the town wooden architecture, historical graveyard with graves of famous decembitsts, jewish merchants and hungarian poet, who all were surprisingly living here almost at the same time.

  Stop at eyesight water spring
  On the way we see endless lands with very few wooden houses and nobody around. We stop at small water spring and enjoy the scenery.

  Arrival in Yarikto settlement.
  We came to Yanzhima (Saraswati) buddhist temple. One monk found there that there is a picture of the god in 2007 and then it became a holy place for local people. There are many pilgrims visiting the stone and asking for children, for the most of them Saraswati helps.

  Stop at "kuitun" viewpoint
  We cross the Barguzin river by the scenic bridge and stop for pictures at "kuitun", wide steppe area located on the hill. This landscape is unique to this part of Siberia.

  Lunch stop
  We stop for a lunch cooked with national Buryat cuisine (included).

  Arrival in Inn stone garden
  We stop at huge stones that were moving by the glacier of the last ice age.

  Stop at Bull spirit Holy place
  We stop at holy place for local and enjoy the stories of this place.

  Arrival in Suvo Saxony
  We see the rocks of different views and spend our time there exploring them and taking pictures.

  Stop at salt lake and petroglyphs
  As a final chord of the tour we visit salt lake and ancient petroglyphs. After that we head back to Ust-Barguzin for a night stay in guesthouse.
• Day 4 : Departure

  We have breakfast at the guesthousein Ust-Barguzin and then head back to Ulan-Ude

  Arrival in Ulan-Ude
  We drop you off at any place in the city.
