Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a verdant magnificent swathe of rain forest across
the steep ridges of the Albertine Rift Valley. This ancient rain forest is one of the few on the
African continent to have flourished and a home to half of the world’s endangered population of
Mountain Gorillas.
Apart from gorilla tracking, the park boasts 90 mammal species, including 11 primates and
prominent bird species. This treasure trove of flora and fauna is home to over 370 Mountain
Gorillas, accommodating almost a half of the world’s population of Mountain Gorillas.
A tour to this park enables you to get up close and personal with these rare Great Apes.
American zoologist George Schaller, one of the first people to study gorillas in the wild, once
said: "No one who looks into the eyes of a Gorilla, gentle and vulnerable, can remain
unchanged." MiscellaneousPersonal Expenses such Travel and Medical Insurance, Excess Baggage Fee, Communication

Day 3 : Gorilla tracking
Get up at 6.00am for a quick breakfast and transfer to the Rushaga gate of Bwindi Impenetrable
Forest National Park – which is 25 kilometres (1 hour drive) away. With packed lunch in your
carry-on, your guide will deliver you to the Rushaga tracking point before 8:00 am for
registration and a briefing on what to expect before commencing your tracking.
The guides will then take you through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth,
parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas. (Tracking can take from half an hour to 5 hours – a
reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes).
When you finally locate the family that you are tracking, sit in the forest among the gorillas,
listening to them grumble to each other and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the
silverback.
It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rain forest in the knowledge you are in the
presence of the few remaining Mountain Gorillas in the wild. After the mandatory 1 hour is up,
the rangers and guides will lead you back to the starting point where your guide will be waiting
for you.
