Perched atop the Roof of Africa, where our journey begins at the iconic Uhuru Peak, this adventure leads you from the breathtaking heights to the vast, endless plains of the Serengeti. Our Tanzania safari offers a captivating blend of exceptional wildlife encounters and immersive cultural experiences. This thrilling, yet compact expedition takes you through some of Tanzania’s most renowned parks, delivering an unforgettable combination of natural beauty and African wildlife in its purest form.
Day 1 : Lake Natron
On this day, you will journey to Lake Natron, beginning with a drive beyond Mto wa Mbu, where you’ll leave the paved roads behind and venture along the adventurous slopes of the East African Rift Valley. As you pass through Maasai villages and approach the sacred mountain of the Maasai, Ol Doinyo Lengai, the stunning landscape unfolds. When the Maasai village of Ngare Sero comes into view, you’ll be just moments away from the lake.
Lake Natron, with its unique ecosystem, is home to an extraordinary variety of wildlife, particularly around 2.5 million dwarf flamingos, who use the lake as a regular breeding ground. The saline waters are rich in unicellular algae and bacteria, giving the lake its striking red-brown to purple-violet hue. This area is one of the most pristine and untouched regions in Africa.
You will embark on a hike around the lake before visiting the nearby waterfalls, a true oasis with refreshing waters perfect for a swim.
Day 2 : Northern Serengeti national park
After an early breakfast, you'll set off towards the Northern Serengeti, journeying up the adventurous slopes of the Rift Valley and into the expansive plains of the Serengeti. This region is the heart of a vast ecosystem, home to an unparalleled diversity of wildlife.
Annually, the great migration brings over millions wildebeest, nearly 300,000 Thomson's gazelles, around 200,000 zebras, and thousands of topis to the lush, green meadows that emerge during the rainy season. With approximately 3 million large mammals, the Serengeti is the most wildlife-rich national park in the world. In addition to the migrating herds, the park is home to many other species, including giraffes, buffaloes, hyenas, elephants, and crocodiles.
The Serengeti is also renowned for its thriving population of big cats, with about 3,000 lions, 300 cheetahs, and an estimated 400 to 700 leopards making it their hunting ground. Prepare for an unforgettable encounter with some of the world's most iconic wildlife.
Day 3 : Central Serengeti national park
The entire day will be devoted to wildlife viewing in the Serengeti, with the areas you visit determined by the location of the migrating herds. These herds are closely followed by predators such as lions, leopards (often found resting in acacia trees), and cheetahs.
During the short rainy season in November and December, the herds move from the northern hills to the southern plains. From April to June, during the longer rainy season, they return north. Because the migration is driven by the annual rainfall, the herds' location can vary from year to year. However, your experienced guide will be able to track the animals and take you to the best spots for an incredible viewing experience.
Day 4 : Ngorongoro crater
Today’s game drive takes you on an adventurous journey 600 meters into the heart of the Ngorongoro Crater. With a diameter of 17 to 21 kilometers, the crater is a rich haven for wildlife, where nearly all the biodiversity of the East African savannah can be found. The only exceptions are giraffes and a few other species, as the steep rock faces are too challenging for them to navigate.
Depending on the season, between 15,000 to 25,000 animals gather here, with more than two-thirds being buffaloes, wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles. The abundance of grazing animals is what supports the highest density of predators in Africa, including over 100 lions living in several prides. This makes it an ideal place to spot the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard—often all within just a few hours.
In the afternoon, you’ll ascend the steep crater walls and make your way to the lodge for a well-deserved dinner and a restful overnight stay.
Day 5 : Tarangire national park
The park stretches along the Tarangire River and is primarily composed of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its natural vegetation features acacia woodlands, towering African baobab trees, and vast swamps in the southern region. During Tanzania's dry season, both the river and the swamps serve as a magnet for wildlife, drawing a variety of animals in search of water. Tarangire National Park is renowned for hosting some of the largest elephant herds in Africa.
The park is also home to three rare species: the greater kudu, the fringed-eared oryx, and a few Ashy starlings. After a picnic lunch, you'll continue your game drive into the late evening, soaking in the sights of this incredible wildlife haven. Finally, you’ll drive back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) to conclude your safari adventure.
