Gangotri National Park, known for unexplored beauty, lush green forests, high peaks with everlasting snow and high-altitude wildlife sanctuary. The terrain runs into series of ridges and valleys along river Bhagirathi originating from Gaumukh Glacier.
Gangotri is the highest temple of Goddess Ganga situated at an altitude of 3,048mts. Apart from the main shrine the 18km uphill trek from Gangotri takes you to Gaumukh which is the origin of River Ganges. Bhaghirath Shila and Pandava Gufa are religious spots located very close to the Gangotri Dham.
Harsil is a village situated at a height of 2,620 metres on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, on the way to Gangotri Dham. Mukhwas village, situated only 1km from Harsil is the home of Goddess Gangotri during winters.
Nelong valley is about 25 km from Bhaironghati and 34 km from Gangotri National Park. This unexplored valley is situated at an altitude of around 11,000 feet and has a mountain desert landscape. After the 1962 Indo-China war this valley was reopened for tourists in 2015.
Day 1 : Haridwar to Gangotri (200 kms / 7-8 Hrs)
Drive from Haridwar to Gangotri via Tehri, Uttarkashi and Harsil. Enroute visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple at Uttarkashi and admire the beauty of Harsil. On arrival at Gangotri check into your hotel and later visit the temple for aarti.
Overnight Stay in Gangotri.
Day 2 : Gangotri to Chirbasa to Bhojbasa (14 Kms Trek / 6 Hrs)
Today we head towards Bhojbasa which fall on the route to Gaumukh. As we begin we walk along River Bhagirathi for about 7Kms to arrive at Chirbasa. Relax for some time and later begin your second walk of 7Kms to reach Bhojbasa at an altitude of (3,800 m), On arrival we pitch our camps and spend the evening under the starts.
Overnight Stay in Bhojbasa.
Day 3 : Bhojbasa to Gaumukh to Bhojbasa (04 Km Trek one way)
Interesting Day as we head towards Gaumukh which is just 4 Kms and the path crossing unnamed streams, hop across boulders and jaw- dropping views of snow-clad mountains. Experience the origin of Bhagirathi River and later walk back to Bhojbasa.
Overnight Stay in Bhojbasa.
Day 4 : Bhojbasa to Gangotri to Harsil (14 Km Trek / 6 Hrs and 25 Kms Drive)
Today we begin our walk back towards Gangotri. On arrival we again visit the temple and later drive to Harsil which is about 25 Kms. Enroute you cross towns of Bhaironghati which is also the getaway to Nelong Valley .On arrival we check in and relax for the day.
Overnight Stay in Harsil.
Day 5 : Harsil to Haridwar
Today we drive back from Uttarkashi to Haridwar via Tehri, Chamba and Rishikesh.
